Semantic Orchestration and Exploitation of Material Data: A Dataspace Solution Demonstrated on Steel and Copper Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article introduces the Dataspace Management System (DSMS), a methodological framework realized in software, designed as a technology stack to power dataspaces with a focus on advanced knowledge management in materials science and manufacturing. DSMS leverages heterogeneous data through semantic integration, linkage, and visualization, aligned with

A Novel Approach to Produce Metal–Metal Composites by Leveraging Immiscibility: Laser Powder Bed Fusion of Nanosilver‐Dispersed Titanium

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Incorporating nanosized silver into titanium for antimicrobial materials exploits the metastable miscibility gap between silver and titanium. Silver nanoparticles are synthesized via pulsed laser ablation in liquid. Silver addition refines the microstructure, increases hardness by 30%, and reduces Staphylococcus capitis microbial adhesion by 70%, with ...

The grain refinement of 1070 alloy by different Al-Ti-B mater alloys and its influence on the electrical conductivity

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2019
The excellent grain refinement effectiveness and good electrical conductivity is difficult to be simultaneously obtained due to the influence of both the grain boundary and excessive Ti in the usually used refiners, such as Al-5Ti-1B master alloy.

Merging of the grains during wire drawing [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
It has been first proved the effect of grains merging during drawing deformation. This was done with example of producing a steel wire from rod manufactured by rolling with shear technology and was shown not only grain refinement but its merging as well.

Impact of Surface Roughness on the Yield Drop of Hot‐Rolled AZX311 Mg Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Rough‐surfaced AZX311 Mg alloy samples have significantly lower yield strength than polished ones due to stress concentrators forming at V‐notch irregularities. Surface profilometry confirms higher Ra values for rough samples. Highest hardness values were observed near scratched surfaces, indicating strain localization effects near the rough surface ...

EBSD study on magnetic field altering crystal texture and grain growth during laser-hybrid welding

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2022
In this study, evolutions of austenite and ferrite microstructures and relevant variations of performances were analyzed during laser-arc welding 316L austenitic stainless steel with a magnetic field. For austenite grains, the magnetic field gave rise to

Non‐Destructive and Mechanical Characterization of the Bond Quality of Co‐Extruded Titanium‐Aluminum Profiles

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates the bond quality of co‐extruded aluminum–titanium hybrid profiles, focusing on the lateral angular co‐extrusion (LACE) process. It examines how heat treatments (HT) affect intermetallic phase formation, bond strength, and material properties.

Role of bimodal-grained structure with random texture on mechanical and corrosion properties of a Mg-Zn-Nd alloy

open access: yesJournal of Magnesium and Alloys, 2022
Fine grained ZN20 alloy was obtained by combining equal-channel angular pressing (ECAP) with extrusion. Microstructural observation showed an obvious grain refinement with an average grain size of 10 µm after ECAP.
