Mycophenolate Mofetil Treatment Reduces the Risk of Treatment Escalation Due to Vascular Complications in Limited Cutaneous Systemic Sclerosis: Emulation of a Target Trial From the Italian Rheumatology Society SPRING Registry

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) use in limited cutaneous systemic sclerosis (lcSSc) is relatively uncommon because of the lower fibrotic burden and the predominance of vascular complications. In vitro observations and clinical data from transplanted patients suggest a protective effect of MMF on endothelial function.

Study on enhancement of aerobic granular sludge granulation and its efficiency in white wine brewing wastewater

open access: yesGongye shui chuli
Huang shui fluid(R1) and steamer bottom water(R2) were used as carbon sources, and sodium glucose acetate(R3) was used as a control to investigate the effect of white wine brewing wastewater as a carbon source on the granulation process of aerobic ...

Effect of Finite Granularity of Detectors on Anisotropy Coefficients

open access: yes, 2006
The coefficients that describe the anisotropy in the azimuthal distribution of particles are lower when the particles are recorded in a detector with finite granularity and measures only hits.

Real‐world trends in prenatal antirheumatic drug utilization in Ontario, Canada: A cross‐sectional time‐series analysis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objectives This study aimed to describe real‐world trends in preconception and prenatal use of antirheumatic drugs among pregnant individuals with rheumatic diseases in Ontario, Canada. Methods We conducted a time‐series analysis using repeated cross‐sectional data to examine annual patterns of disease‐modifying antirheumatic drug (DMARD) use among ...

Granularity matters: comparing different ways of measuring self-regulated learning

open access: yesMetacognition and Learning, 2019
Although self-regulated learning (SRL) is becoming increasingly important in modern educational contexts, disagreements exist regarding its measurement. One particularly important issue is whether self-reports represent valid ways to measure this process.

Low‐Cost, Large‐Scale Nanoporous Metals by Mechanical Alloying, Oxide Reduction, and Dealloying of Powders

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Powder metal processing provides scalable advantages in nanoporous (np) metal development. Mechanical alloying is used to produce unique precursors for hybrid nanopore formation by oxide reduction and dealloying. As demonstrated in np Ag, this approach improves process efficiency while promoting smaller ligaments and larger pores, both of which are ...

What Do Large Language Models Know About Materials?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
If large language models (LLMs) are to be used inside the material discovery and engineering process, they must be benchmarked for the accurateness of intrinsic material knowledge. The current work introduces 1) a reasoning process through the processing–structure–property–performance chain and 2) a tool for benchmarking knowledge of LLMs concerning ...

Spatial reasoning with augmented points: Extending cardinal directions with local distances

open access: yesJournal of Spatial Information Science, 2012
We present an approach for supplying existing qualitative direction calculi with a distance component to support fully fledged positional reasoning. The general underlying idea of augmenting points with local reference properties has already been applied
