Thermochemical conversion of grape marc into carbon-negative syngas

Journal of Environmental Management
The massive generation of waste from the food industry requires sustainable management strategies to mitigate its contribution to greenhouse gas emissions. Therefore, this study explored a sustainable approach by valorizing food waste into energy through pyrolysis.

Gasification and Combustion of Grape Marc: Comparison Among Different Scenarios

Waste and Biomass Valorization, 2010
In this paper the attention is focused on the energetic exploitation of grape marc, the main biomass remaining from the vine-making process. Three different scenarios have been analyzed: a typical combustion process coupled with a steam cycle for cogeneration, an air gasification process and, finally, a steam gasification process with indirect heating.

Toxicity of Sulcotrione and Grape Marc on Vicia faba Cells

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2014
The cell toxicity of sulcotrione, a selective triketone herbicide, was evaluated on Vicia faba. Sulcotrione, trademark Mikado, grape marc, and mixtures of sulcotrione or Mikado with grape marc induced cell death. Addition of grape marc to either sulcotrione or Mikado enhanced cell death, especially with Mikado.

Composting of Vinasse and Grape Marc Solid Waste

2007
In this work composting of binary mixtures of vinasse and grape marc at airflow rate of 0.5 Lmin-1kgVS-1 was carried out in closed thermally insulated column reactor (6.0 L). During the process, which lasted 14 days, air temperatures at the reactor's inlet and at three levels of composting mass (bottom, middle and top) were closely monitored.

Exhausted grape marc biodrying: a pilot scale experimentation

2011
One of the most representative crops which can be cultivated in extensive surfaces worldwide is represented by vine. Grape marc is produced in large quantities in wine production with the issue of disposal being an important environmental consideration.
