Green chemistry in perspective - models for GC activities and GC policy and knowledge areas
This article presents two new models that give a perspective on green chemistry (GC). The first model is a classification model of different green chemistry activities, while the second model concerns green chemistry policy and knowledge areas (green ...

Lewis acid-catalyzed asymmetric reactions of β,γ-unsaturated 2-acyl imidazoles
The investigation of reactivity of β,γ-unsaturated carbonyl compounds is of great synthetic value, especially in asymmetric transformations. Here, the authors report a catalytic asymmetric tandem isomerization/α-Michael addition of β,γ-unsaturated 2-acyl

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Incorporating Sustainability in Higher Chemistry Education in Indonesia through Green Chemistry: Inspirations by Inquiring the Practice in a German University [PDF]
Green chemistry is suggested as an important guide to allow the practice of chemistry to become more sustainable. In this study, a chemistry department at a German university is analyzed by an outside view to how it integrates the philosophy of green ...

Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...
