Control of Grid-Following Inverters Under Unbalanced Grid Conditions [PDF]
This paper proposes a new control scheme to eliminate the 3rd harmonic in the output currents of grid-following inverters under unbalanced grid conditions. Unbalanced grids adversely affect the performance of grid-following inverters due to the oscillations appearing on the DC-link voltage with a frequency twice the line frequency.

A Comparison of Grid-Forming and Grid-Following Control of VSCs [PDF]
Variable renewable energy sources are today increasingly integrated in the power system as a step towards the renewable society. The large-scale introduction of converter-based energy sources brings challenges in terms of reduced damping to the power system due to the reduced number of synchronous generators.

Control Loops Passivation Design of Weak-Grid-Tied Grid-Following Inverters for Maximum Power Transfer Capability Improvement [PDF]
The theoretical maximum power transfer capability of the phase-locked loop (PLL)-based grid-following inverters can be limited under weak-grid conditions due to the non passivity of control loops.

Grid-Forming and Grid-Following Based Microgrid Inverters Control
Microgrids (ℳ-grids) can be thought of as a small-scale electrical network comprised of a mix of Distributed Generation (DG) resources, storage devices, and a variety of load species. It provides communities with a stable, secure, and renewable energy supply in either off-grid (grid-forming) or on-grid (grid-following) mode.

GRID-FORMING/FOLLOWING CONTROL FOR CONVERTERS OF RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES
Have been proposed the new control framework for converters of renewable energy sources (RES-C), based on choosing their operation mode – grid-forming or grid-following in depends on the dynamic stiffness (DS) of the power system for some bus i (control ...

A Review of Synchronization Stability Analysis and Control Strategies for Grid-Connected Inverters [PDF]
[Objective] With the increasing penetration of power electronic devices in the new power systems, the system is gradually evolving from a “physical synchronization” paradigm dominated by synchronous generators to a “control-based synchronization ...
