Novel Force Modelling Technique for Grinding
Journal for Manufacturing Science and Production, 2014AbstractGrinding occupies a place in the machining arena as the final finishing process, which tends to exist in all machining environments. The grinding process generates forces that have to be countered by the robustness of the machine tool and a methodology to compute the forces that might be generated by it for deciding the type of tool and depth ...

Adaptation of Traditional Grinding Force Models to Cylindrical Cup Grinding
Optical Fabrication and Testing, 1996The dynamics of grinding is less well investigated than other machining processes. In particular, the cylindrical cup grinding process used in optical manufacturing has received little attention. Our interest in this arises from the observation of rose-petal shaped marks called cutter marks during microgrinding glass lenses.

Research on Mathematical Model of Grinding Force in Gear Form Grinding
Key Engineering Materials, 2011Based on grinding force formation theory and the surface grinding force formula, the formula of gear form grinding force is obtained by integrating the grinding force in unit width along the involute direction. Simulation analysis and inspection result show that the mathematical model of gear form grinding force is validated.

The X-C Linkage Grinding Force Model in Cam Grinding
Key Engineering Materials, 2016In cam grinding process, the grinding force changes with the change of cam contour, and its change leads to create the error of X-C linkage servo-tracking position, all of the factors reduce the cam the contour accuracy. To improve the accuracy of the cam profile, and research the effect of X-C axis servo tracking, the key vector of grinding force to ...

Abstract This study presents a numerical model of the grinding force during rail grinding that considers the influence of the swing angle of the grinding stone on the position of the grinding area. The numerical model of movement process and material removal of single abrasive grain at different swing angles are established.

International Journal of Abrasive Technology, 2016
In the present paper, a semi-empirical grinding force model is developed combined with the achievements of previous researchers by composing effects of normal and tangential grinding forces in two main parts respectively: cutting force and sliding force. This model is used to predict the total normal and tangential force in the surface grinding.

Grinding Force Model for Low-Speed Grinding Based on Impact Principle
Advanced Materials Research, 2013In the low-speed grinding process, the force generated when the wheel grinding the workpiece is the result of sliding friction, plough and cutting. While in the actual study, the cutting process has attracted extensive attention. Impact effect to the entire grinding process on the contact is ignored so that the error exists between the calculation ...

Modeling of Grinding Force in Constant-Depth-of-Cut Ultrasonically Assisted Grinding
Materials Science Forum, 2004This paper discusses the mechanism behind the grinding force decrease associated with ultrasonication of the grinding wheel in constant-depth-of-cut ultrasonically assisted grinding (UAG). By introducing a grinding model describing the cutting trace of an abrasive grain, an equation relating the grinding force decrease to such process parameters as the

Force Modeling for Cup Wheel Surface Grinding
Manufacturing Science and Engineering, 1998Abstract This paper describes the development of a model for the forces in surface grinding with a cup wheel. The model incorporates the considerations of material removal from the front end of the wheel, the velocity differential between the wheel and part, the material removal from the bottom contact surface of the wheel, to deflection
