Modelling and experiment for grinding forces of gear form grinding considering complete tooth depth engagement

Proceedings of the Institution of mechanical engineers. Part B, journal of engineering manufacture, 2022
Grinding is an essential gear finishing method. Grinding force analysis and prediction are critical to understand grinding mechanisms. By using a geometry model for gear form grinding and surface grinding mechanisms, a theoretical model was established ...

Force controlled robot for grinding

IEEE International Workshop on Intelligent Robots and Systems, Towards a New Frontier of Applications, 2002
Two algorithms for use in force controlled robot applications have been developed for grinding. The 'gradient prediction method' is presented as an improvement to contour following in the force control mode. In this method, the gradient of the workpiece is predicted, and the force errors caused thereby are corrected.

Grinding Forces and Energy

Journal of Engineering for Industry, 1988
Grinding forces and energy play an important role in all abrasive machining operations. While specific grinding energy may be obtained from workpiece dynamometer values or by measuring spindle power, care must be exercised in converting dynamometer reading into power consumed.

Belt Forces With Grinding

Journal of Engineering for Industry, 1988
This paper investigates belt forces in abrasive belt grinding. The distribution of normal and tangential belt forces are determined analytically and experimentally for belt grinding with both a driving and a driven pulley contact wheel. The experimental results are compared with the analytical results.

In vivo evaluation of machining forces, torque, and bone quality during skull bone grinding

Proceedings of the Institution of mechanical engineers. Part H, journal of engineering in medicine, 2020
This study investigates neurosurgical bone grinding with varying parameters on skull bone using a miniature grinding burr. Three process parameters, namely, rotational speed, feed rate, and depth of cut, have been investigated at three different levels ...

The prediction of grinding forces in cylindrical plunge grinding

International Journal of Production Research, 1986
SUMMARY Traditionally the grinding process has been a finishing process and the operating parameters and the results obtained in this mode are well known. However, there is an increasing demand for the use of high rates of metal removal grinding and when allied with the application of adaptive control this has highlighted a need to be able to predict ...

Modeling and analysis of grinding force in surface grinding

2011 IEEE International Conference on Computer Science and Automation Engineering, 2011
A new simple model of grinding force in surface grinding is proposed in this paper. The model is based on the fact that the grinding forces are composed of chip formation force and sliding force. The formula for calculating the tangential and normal grinding force per unit width is obtained based on the classical formulas.
