Solid-state NMR spectroscopy on complex biomolecules [PDF]
Biomolecular applications of NMR spectroscopy are often merely associated with soluble molecules or magnetic resonance imaging. However, since the late 1970s, solid-state NMR (ssNMR) spectroscopy has demonstrated its ability to provide atomic-level ...

Characterization of membrane protein function by solid-state NMR spectroscopy [PDF]
Membrane proteins are an important class of biological molecules whose association with lipid bilayers and intrinsic molecular mobility can complicate their structural study by high-resolution methods.

Ground State in a Half-Doped Manganite Distinguished by Neutron Spectroscopy [PDF]
We have measured the spin-wave spectrum of the half-doped bilayer manganite Pr(Ca,Sr)2Mn2O7 in its spin, charge, and orbital ordered phase. The measurements, which extend throughout the Brillouin zone and cover the entire one-magnon spectrum, are compared critically with spin-wave calculations for different models of the electronic ground state.

Laser spectroscopy of the 1001-nm ground-state transition in dysprosium [PDF]
We present the first direct excitation of the presumably ultra-narrow $1001 \, \textrm{nm}$ ground state transition in atomic dysproium. By using resonance ionization spectroscopy with pulsed Ti:sapphire lasers at a hot cavity laser ion source, we were able to measure the isotopic shifts in the $1001 \, \textrm{nm}$ line between all seven stable ...

Complex Formation and Light Activation in Membrane-Embedded Sensory Rhodopsin II as Seen by Solid-State NMR Spectroscopy [PDF]
Microbial rhodopsinsexecutediverse biological functions in the cellular membrane. A mechanistic understanding of their functional profile is, however, still limited.

Volcano remote sensing with ground-based spectroscopy [PDF]
The chemical compositions and emission rates of volcanic gases carry important information about underground magmatic and hydrothermal conditions, with application in eruption forecasting. Volcanic plumes are also studied because of their impacts upon the atmosphere, climate and human health.

Structural rearrangements of membrane proteins probed by water-edited solid-state NMR spectroscopy [PDF]
We show that water-edited solid-state NMR spectroscopy allows for probing global protein conformation and residue-specific solvent accessibility in a lipid bilayer environment.

Ground-based NIR emission spectroscopy of HD189733b [PDF]
We investigate the K and L band dayside emission of the hot-Jupiter HD 189733b with three nights of secondary eclipse data obtained with the SpeX instrument on the NASA IRTF. The observations for each of these three nights use equivalent instrument settings and the data from one of the nights has previously reported by Swain et al (2010).

Probing molecular motion by double-quantum (13C,13C) solid-state NMR spectroscopy: Application to ubiquitin [PDF]
We demonstrate the use of two-dimensional (13C,13C) double-quantum spectroscopy to detect molecular dynamics by solid-state NMR. Data collected on tyrosine-ethylester (TEE) are in line with previously determined (1H,13C) order parameters.
