Commitment and Desire in Sharon Hayes’s Ricerche: three 2013

open access: yesTate Papers, 2016
This article examines Sharon Hayes’s video work Ricerche: three 2013 and the way it represents and mediates the often-painful psychic processes of group formation, in this case propelled by internal and external social pressures. Drawing upon the work of

Solvated PbI2 Clusters Preceding the Crystallization of Lead Halide Perovskites–a UV/VIS In Situ Study

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials
The solution‐based fabrication of reproducible, high‐quality lead iodide perovskite films demands a detailed understanding of the crystallization dynamics, which is mainly determined by the perovskite precursor solution and its processing conditions.

Formations of Π-soluble groups [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Australian Mathematical Society, 1969
The theory of formations of soluble groups, developed by Gaschütz [4], Carter and Hawkes[1], provides fairly general methods for investigating canonical full conjugate sets of subgroups in finite, soluble groups. Those methods, however, cannot be applied to the class of all finite groups, since strong use was made of the Theorem of Galois on primitive ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Palaeobathymetry of the Abderaz Formation using foraminifera, Iran [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Abderaz Formation at its type section with an age of Turonian-early Campanian and a thickness of 300 m contains light grey shale and marl. The study of the planktonic foraminifera in isolated form led to differentiate three morphotype groups.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Consensus Formation in Networked Groups [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This chapter proposes a solution, based on the theory of social networks, to the problem of weight assignment in the Lehrer-Wagner model for consensus. The Lehrer-Wagner model of consensus is introduced, and the problem of weight assignment is outlined, together with a number of possible solutions previously suggested in the literature.
