Structure‐forward targeting of claudins with synthetic binders
Claudins form the paracellular barriers between epithelial and endothelial tissues at tight junctions and are targets for molecular binders with the goal of modulating barrier permeability. Claudin‐binding molecules are relevant in drug delivery or in altering claudin interactions with disease‐causing proteins.

Control of invasive growth by hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) and related scatter factors
Hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) is the prototype of a family of structurally related soluble molecules, named scatter factors (SFs). These control a complex genetic programme leading to cell-dissociation, migration in the extracellular matrix, growth ...

Gene expression patterns of insulin-like growth factor 1, insulin-like growth factor 2 and insulin-like growth factor binding protein 3 in human placenta from pregnancies with intrauterine growth restriction [PDF]
Introduction: In this study, we compared insulin-like growth factor (IGF)-gene expression patterns and characteristics of glucose and insulin metabolism in human placenta from pregnancies with or without intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR).

Engineering peptides into antibodies—opportunities and strategies for therapeutic innovation
Peptides and antibodies occupy complementary therapeutic niches. Peptides recognize difficult targets in a compact format, while antibodies add specificity, long half‐life, and effector functions. This review examines strategies that merge both modalities—peptide grafting into loops, terminal and Fc fusions, and bioconjugation—highlighting how ...

Liver organoids: modelling complexity in homeostasis and disease
Studying liver in vitro has been challenging because simple 2D cell cultures fail to capture liver's cellular and architectural complexity. To bridge this gap, scientists increasingly use organoids, 3D liver models which better mimic liver composition and function. This review examines recent advances in liver organoid complexity and realism, discusses

Structure Determination of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Heparin-Binding Domain in Complex with a Dna Aptamer [PDF]
Vascular endothelial growth factor is a cytokine that is required for the maintenance of healthy vasculature, and it is responsible for a variety of pathogenic conditions, such as age-related macular degeneration and tumor growth in numerous cancers.

Growth factor regulation of growth factor production by multiple gene transfer to chondrocytes
Of the many classes of molecules regulated by growth factors, growth factors themselves are not well investigated. We tested the hypothesis that combinations of endogenous growth factors interactively regulate the production of other growth factors ...

Recent Estimates of the Structure of the Factor VIIa (FVIIa)/Tissue Factor (TF) and Factor Xa (FXa) Ternary Complex [PDF]
The putative structure of the Tissue Factor/Factor VIIa/Factor Xa (TF/FVIIa/FXa) ternary complex is reconsidered. Two independently derived docking models proposed in 2003 (one for our laboratory: CHeA and one from the Scripps laboratory: Ss) are ...
