The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

Social conflict, growth and factor shares [PDF]

open access: yes
Standard growth theory is based on atomistic agents with no strategic interactions among them. In contrast, we model growth as resulting from a one-off, strategic game between workers and owners of capital (capitalists) on factor shares, in an otherwise ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Extracellular vesicles in triple-negative breast cancer: current updates, challenges and future prospects

open access: yesFrontiers in Molecular Biosciences
Breast cancer (BC) remains a complex and widespread problem, affecting millions of women worldwide, Among the various subtypes of BC, triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is particularly challenging, representing approximately 20% of all BC cases, and ...

Polymers Nucleation and Growth Mechanism: Solubility, a Determining Factor

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2012
Temperature and ultrasound effect on the nucleation and growth mechanisms (NGM) of poly(ortho- toluidine) (POT) was investigated. Synthesis conditions at temperatures between 263 and 303 K were optimized with and without ultrasonic irradiation.

Regulatory Variation at Glypican-3 Underlies a Major Growth QTL in Mice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The genetic basis of variation in complex traits remains poorly understood, and few genes underlying variation have been identified. Previous work identified a quantitative trait locus (QTL) responsible for much of the response to selection on growth in ...

Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

Regulation of the mammalian target of rapamycin complex 2 (mTORC2) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The growth controlling mammalian Target of Rapamycin (mTOR) is a conserved Ser/Thr kinase found in two structurally and functionally distinct complexes, mTORC1 and mTORC2.
