Treatment preferences among Japanese patients and physicians for epidermal growth factor receptor‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesCancer Medicine
Introduction Evidence is limited on preferences of Japanese patients and physicians in treatment for epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

The Caenorhabditis elegans DPF‐3 and human DPP4 have tripeptidyl peptidase activity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPPIV) family comprises serine proteases classically defined by their ability to remove dipeptides from the N‐termini of substrates, a feature that gave the family its name. Here, we report the discovery of a previously unrecognized tripeptidyl peptidase activity in DPPIV family members from two different species.

Expression of growth factor receptors and targeting of EGFR in cholangiocarcinoma cell lines

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2010
Background Cholangiocarcinoma (CC) is a malignant neoplasm of the bile ducts or the gallbladder. Targeting of growth factor receptors showed therapeutic potential in palliative settings for many solid tumors.

The role and implications of mammalian cellular circadian entrainment

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
At their most fundamental level, mammalian circadian rhythms occur inside every individual cell. To tell the correct time, cells must align (or ‘entrain’) their circadian rhythm to the external environment. In this review, we highlight how cells entrain to the major circadian cues of light, feeding and temperature, and the implications this has for our

GROWTH FACTOR AND ADIPOKINE RECEPTORS IN PATHOGENESIS AND PROGNOSIS OF ENDOMETRIAL CANCER IN PATIENTS WITH METABOLIC SYNDROME

open access: yesСибирский онкологический журнал, 2016
The role of growth factor receptors (insulin-like growth factor and transforming growth factor-beta) and adipokine receptors (leptin and adiponectin) in pathogenesis of endometrial cancer under conditions of metabolic syndrome is discussed ...

N-glycosylation pattern of human placental insulin-like growth factor and insulin receptors in well-controlled pregestational diabetes mellitus [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Medical Biochemistry, 2012
Diabetes mellitus is a complex disease that leads to alterations in the glycosylation of proteins. Insulin-like growth factor and insulin receptors are involved in the regulation of fetal and placental growth and development.

Anti-fibrotic efficacy of nintedanib in pulmonary fibrosis via the inhibition of fibrocyte activity

open access: yesRespiratory Research, 2017
Background Nintedanib, a tyrosine kinase inhibitor that is specific for platelet-derived growth factor receptors (PDGFR), fibroblast growth factor receptors (FGFR), and vascular endothelial growth factor receptors (VEGFR), has recently been approved for ...
