Parameters Used for Evaluation of the Response to Treatment with Recombinant Human Growth Hormone in Paediatric and Adult Populations in Poland: Review

open access: yesJournal of Education, Health and Sport
Introduction and purpose  Recombinant human growth hormone (rhGH) therapy has been the standard treatment  for paediatric short stature for many years, and a therapeutic option for the replacement therapy of growth hormone deficiency in the post ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Growth hormone response to growth hormone-releasing peptide-2 in growth hormone-deficient Little mice

open access: yesClinics, 2012
OBJECTIVE: To investigate a possible direct, growth hormone-releasing, hormone-independent action of a growth hormone secretagogue, GHRP-2, in pituitary somatotroph cells in the presence of inactive growth hormonereleasing hormone receptors.

Optimizing Patient Management and Adherence for Children Receiving Growth Hormone. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Poor adherence with growth hormone (GH) therapy has been associated with worse clinical outcomes, which in children relates specifically to their linear growth and loss of quality of life.

Growth-hormone-releasing hormone

open access: yesClinical Chemistry, 1990
Abstract Growth-hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH, somatoliberin) is the hypothalamic peptide hormone that specifically stimulates synthesis and release of growth hormone (GH, somatotropin) by somatotrope cells of the anterior pituitary gland.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

HPLC-MS characterisation of chelate modified somatropin [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Somatropin is a recombinant human growth hormone, consisting of 191 amino acids. This protein is clinically used in children and adults with inadequate endogenous growth hormone to stimulate a normal bone and muscle growth.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Growth Hormone Deficiency [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical Biochemistry: International Journal of Laboratory Medicine, 1987
Growth hormone deficiency is relative, not absolute. Conventional stimulation tests of hGH release do not recognise some children who will benefit from hGH treatment and it is probably justified, at this point, undertaking a six month trial of hGH in all short children who are growing slowly (less than 4 cm/yr).

Efficacy, safety, quality of life, adherence and cost-effectiveness of long-acting growth hormone replacement therapy compared to daily growth hormone in children with growth hormone deficiency: A systematic review and meta-analysis

open access: yesPharmacological Research, 2023
We evaluated the efficacy, safety, adherence, quality of life (QoL) and cost-effectiveness of long-acting growth hormone (LAGH) vs daily growth hormone (GH) preparations in the treatment of growth hormone deficiency (GHD) in children. Systematic searches
