Endocrinologic Control of Men's Sexual Desire and Arousal/Erection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Several hormones and neurotransmitters orchestrate men's sexual response, including the appetitive (sexual desire) and consummative (arousal and penile erection) phases.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Diagnosing Growth Hormone Deficiency in Adults

open access: yesInternational Journal of Endocrinology, 2012
Adult growth hormone (GH) deficiency is a recognised syndrome associated with adverse phenotypic, metabolic, and quality-of-life features which improve in many patients when GH is substituted.

Growth hormone nadir during oral glucose load depends on waist circumference, gender and age: normative data in 231 healthy subjects. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Objective  (i) To analyse the predictors of GH suppression after standard glucose load (oGTT) in the healthy population and (ii) to establish the 97th percentile of GH nadir post-oGTT according to these variables.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

X-linked agammaglobulinemia and isolated growth hormone deficiency

open access: yesThe Turkish Journal of Pediatrics, 1998
X-linked agammaglobulinemia and isolated growth hormone deficiency was first described in 1980 and then classified as a different primary immune deficiency.

Discontinuation of long-term growth hormone treatment in adults with growth hormone deficiency: a survey of UK practice

open access: yesEndocrine Connections
Objective: We conducted a survey of UK endocrine clinicians between June 2022 and August 2022 to understand current practices regarding GH treatment discontinuation in adults with growth hormone deficiency.

Day/night variations of myeloid and lymphoid cell subsets in the murine inguinal lymph node

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The circadian system is involved in the temporal regulation of the immune system. Our study reveals that two innate immune populations, NKT cells and neutrophils, predominate at the beginning of the day in healthy mice, highlighting how the time of day influences immune responses.

The photoswitchable cannabinoid azo‐HU308 enables optical control of Ca2+ dynamics in INS‐1 β‐cells via off‐target effects on TRPC channels

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Light activation of the photoswitchable cannabinoid ligand azo‐HU308 triggers Ca2+ influx in pancreatic β‐cells through TRPC channels, independent of CB2 cannabinoid receptors. This reveals a non‐GPCR pathway for cannabinoid modulation of β‐cell Ca2+ dynamics and establishes azo‐HU308 as an optical tool to study cannabinoid signaling through TRP ...

Frequency of Growth Hormone Deficiency in Children with Short Stature

open access: yesمجله دانشکده پزشکی اصفهان, 2010
Background: Growth hormone deficiency is an important and treatable cause for short stature in early diagnosed cases. This study was conducted to determine the frequency of growth hormone deficiency in children with short stature referred. Methods:
