Epitaxial Growth Kinetics with Interacting Coherent Islands
The Stranski-Krastanov growth kinetics of undislocated (coherent) 3-dimensional islands is studied with a self-consistent mean field rate theory that takes account of elastic interactions between the islands.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Investigation of Growth Kinetics of Fe2B Layers on AISI 1518 Steel by the Integral Method
The AISI 1518 steel was pack-borided in the temperature range 1123–1273 K for a treatment ranging from 2 to 8 h. A compact single boride layer (Fe2B) was formed at the surface of the AISI 1518 steel using the mixture of powders composed of 20 % B4C, 10 %

The Kinetics of Mycelial Growth [PDF]
Based on the assumption that mycelial growth follows the logistic growth law, formulae have been developed to express the growth of fungal colonies under a variety of geometric constraints. Analysis was done of Deppe's (1973) results on surface colony growth, where the mass of the colony grew exponentially during most colonial growth, and of Trinci's ...

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

First Characterization of Acinetobacter baumannii-Specific Filamentous Phages
Filamentous bacteriophages belonging to the order Tubulavirales, family Inoviridae, significantly affect the properties of Gram-negative bacteria, but filamentous phages of many important pathogens have not been described so far.

Class of self-limiting growth models in the presence of nonlinear diffusion [PDF]
The source term in a reaction-diffusion system, in general, does not involve explicit time dependence. A class of self-limiting growth models dealing with animal and tumor growth and bacterial population in a culture, on the other hand are described by ...

Bacillus cereus: Aerobic Growth Kinetics
Three strains of Bacillus cereus were cultured in brain heart infusion medium aerobically under conditions of variable temperature (5 to 42°C), sodium chloride concentrations (0.5-5%), pH (4.5 - 7.5), and sodium nitrite concentration (0 mg/L - 200 mg/L) to simulate conditions of normal and adverse food storage.
