Growth kinetics.

open access: yes, 2022
Growth kinetics of L. lactis, S. aureus, S. epidermidis, E. faecalis, E. faecium, S. pneumoniae and S. pyogenes over a twelve-hour incubation time with a 30-minute period between each frame. Each frame is a 64x64-pixel image (107x107 μm).

Biophysical approaches for studying viral entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Viruses infect all living organisms and have been responsible for major epidemics and pandemics. Their ongoing evolutionary battle with host defenses creates a constant need for improved tools to study viral behavior. Advancing methods to probe viral attachment, fusion, and genome release deepen our understanding of how infections begin and support the

First Characterization of Acinetobacter baumannii-Specific Filamentous Phages

open access: yesViruses
Filamentous bacteriophages belonging to the order Tubulavirales, family Inoviridae, significantly affect the properties of Gram-negative bacteria, but filamentous phages of many important pathogens have not been described so far.

Chemical Kinetics of Gold Nanorod Growth in Aqueous CTAB Solutions

open access: yes, 2011
The chemical kinetics of the silver-mediated growth of gold nanorods prepared by the reduction of gold precursor in aqueous cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) solution has been systematically studied using spectroscopic monitoring and electron ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Growth kinetics of vanadium pentoxide nanostructures under hydrothermal conditions

open access: yes, 2010
The work reported here involved a study of the growth kinetics of V2O5nH2O nanostructures under hydrothermal conditions. The coarsening process of V2O5nH2O nanoribbons was followed by subjecting the as-prepared suspensions to hydrothermal treatments at ...

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Correlations between Growth Kinetics and Microstructure for Scales Formed by High-Temperature Oxidation of Pure Nickel. II. Growth Kinetics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The oxidation kinetics of high-purity nickel were studied between 500 and 1200°C, in pure oxygen at atmospheric pressure, for aûerage oxide-scale thicknesses of 1, 5, 10, and 30 μm.
