Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Mepiquat chloride-driven regulation in cotton in China: a review of physiological mechanisms, agronomic integration, and future trajectories

open access: yesJournal of Cotton Research
Crop chemical regulation using plant growth regulators (PGRs) represents a key strategy for achieving high-efficiency cotton production in China. This review synthesizes four decades of research on mepiquat chloride (MC), an inhibitory PGR pivotal to ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

The Effect of Plant Growth Regulator Triacontanol to the Growth of Cacao Seedlings (Theobroma Cacao L.) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of plant growth regulator triacontanol to the growth of cacao seedings (Theobroma cacao L.). A completely randomized design was applied using non-factorial pattern on the treatment triacontanol growing ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Characterizing Cotton Defoliation Progress via UAV-Based Multispectral-Derived Leaf Area Index and Analysis of Influencing Factors

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Timely monitoring of cotton defoliation progress is crucial for optimizing the quality of mechanical harvesting. To accurately assess the defoliation status prior to mechanical picking, a field experiment was conducted in Hejian, Hebei Province, China ...
