Why Are All the Sets All the Sets?

open access: yesNoûs, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Necessitists about set theory think that the pure sets exists, and are the way they are, as a matter of necessity. They cannot explain why the sets (de rebus) are all the sets. This constitutes the Ur‐Objection against necessitism; it is the primary motivation cited by potentialists about set theory.

Oxygen, Gastrin-Releasing Peptide, and Pediatric Lung Disease: Life in the Balance

open access: yesFrontiers in Pediatrics, 2014
Excessive oxygen (O2) causes tissue injury, scarring, aging, and even death. Our laboratory is studying O2-sensing pulmonary neuroendocrine cells (PNECs) and the PNEC-derived product gastrin-releasing peptide (GRP).

Overexpression of Gastrin-Releasing Peptide Receptors in Tumor-Associated Blood Vessels of Human Ovarian Neoplasms

open access: yesCellular Oncology, 2007
Background: Peptide receptors, overexpressed in specific cancers, represent new diagnostic and therapeutic targets. In this study, receptors for the gastrin-releasing peptide (GRP), and other members of the bombesin-family of peptides, were evaluated in ...

Gastrin-releasing peptide induces fibrotic response in MRC5s and proliferation in A549s

open access: yesCell Communication and Signaling, 2020
Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a complex lung disease, whose build-up scar tissue is induced by several molecules. Gastrin-releasing peptide (GRP) is released from pulmonary neuroendocrine cells, alveolar macrophages, and some nerve endings in ...

Small muscle mass aerobic exercise in health and disease: Unique insights into muscle vascular and metabolic control and performance

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Studies of small muscle mass exercise (SMME) have revealed that the peripheral O2 transport–utilization cascade is a dynamically regulated system in which perfusive and diffusive components can be selectively amplified, redistributed and mechanically limited depending on contraction pattern, recruitment strategy and intramuscular pressure ...
