Structural comparison of unconventional G protein YchF with heterotrimeric G protein and small G protein

open access: yesPlant Signaling & Behavior, 2022
Guanine nucleotide-binding (G) proteins, namely, phosphate-binding (P) loop GTPases, play a critical role in life processes among different species. Based on the structural characteristics, G proteins can be divided into heterotrimeric G proteins, small ...

A novel member of the rho family of small GTP-binding proteins is specifically required for cytokinesis

open access: yesJournal of Cell Biology, 1996
Several members of the rho/rac family of small GTP-binding proteins are known to regulate the distribution of the actin cytoskeleton in various subcellular processes.

An Allele of Glutamate Formiminotransferase Triggers 5‐Methyl‐Tetrahydrofolate‐to‐MeFox Conversion and Facilitates Folate Biofortification in Maize

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates the distinct roles of the glutamate formiminotransferase (GFT) enzyme in plants. The GFT triggers the conversion of 5‐methyl‐tetrahydrofolate to MeFox in plants, a process distinct from its role as a formiminotransferase in mammals.

Mutant mitochondrial elongation factor G1 and combined oxidative phosphorylation deficiency [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Although most components of the mitochondrial translation apparatus are encoded by nuclear genes, all known molecular defects associated with impaired mitochondrial translation are due to mutations in mitochondrial DNA.

Activation of Lysosomal Retrograde Transport Triggers TPC1‐IP3R1 Ca2+ Crosstalk at Lysosome‐ER MCSs Leading to Lethal Depleting of ER Calcium

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The flavonoid compound LW‐213 exerts its antitumor effects through a novel mechanism involving lysosomal‐ER calcium regulation. Specifically, LW‐213 binds to LIMP2, which induces perinuclear clustering of lysosomes and facilitates calcium‐mediated lysosome‐ER interactions.

Large-scale, dynamin-like motions of the human guanylate binding protein 1 revealed by multi-resolution simulations.

open access: yesPLoS Computational Biology, 2019
Guanylate binding proteins (GBPs) belong to the dynamin-related superfamily and exhibit various functions in the fight against infections. The functions of the human guanylate binding protein 1 (hGBP1) are tightly coupled to GTP hydrolysis and ...

Structure of UreG/UreF/UreH complex reveals how urease accessory proteins facilitate maturation of Helicobacter pylori urease. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Biology, 2013
Urease is a metalloenzyme essential for the survival of Helicobacter pylori in acidic gastric environment. Maturation of urease involves carbamylation of Lys219 and insertion of two nickel ions at its active site. This process requires GTP hydrolysis and

The DEC2‐SCN2A Axis is Essential for the Anticonvulsant Effects of Cannabidiol by Modulating Neuronal Plasticity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies DEC2 as a critical transcriptional repressor of Scn2a that directly binds E‐box motifs in its promoter to regulate neuronal plasticity and epileptogenesis. Functional manipulation of DEC2 alters seizure susceptibility in vivo. Cannabidiol enhances this repression, unveiling a novel DEC2‐SCN2A axis underlying its anticonvulsant ...

Comparative structural dynamic analysis of GTPases.

open access: yesPLoS Computational Biology, 2018
GTPases regulate a multitude of essential cellular processes ranging from movement and division to differentiation and neuronal activity. These ubiquitous enzymes operate by hydrolyzing GTP to GDP with associated conformational changes that modulate ...
