Insights on the phenology of the Asian longhorned tick (Haemaphysalis longicornis) using stored lipids

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
Lipid analysis of field‐collected ticks unveiled a complex population structure and supports the potential for several stages to overwinter. Abstract The seasonality of Haemaphysalis longicornis in the United States comprises overlapping life stages in the spring and summer.

Alcohol and aging: Next‐generation epigenetic clocks predict biological age acceleration in individuals with alcohol use disorder

open access: yesAlcohol, Clinical and Experimental Research, EarlyView.
Our study investigated the performance of five epigenetic clocks by evaluating associations with alcohol use disorder (AUD) and various alcohol‐related phenotypes. Both DNAm GrimAge versions were associated with AUD and alcohol behaviors/clinical measures in the total sample and age subgroups.

Complex population genetic structure of the bark beetle predator Thanasimus formicarius (L.) (Coleoptera: Cleridae) across its European range

open access: yesAgricultural and Forest Entomology, EarlyView.
Abstract Thanasimus formicarius (L.) (Coleoptera: Cleridae) is an important bark beetle predator and can reduce bark beetle population densities of some of the most severe forest pests in Europe. We analysed the population genetics and phylogeography of T.

Targeted Therapies for Slow‐Flow Vascular Malformations

open access: yesAustralasian Journal of Dermatology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Advances in genetic sequencing technologies have enabled the identification of key activating somatic variants in cellular signalling pathways involved in the pathogenesis of vascular malformations. Given that these genetic variants are also implicated in the pathogenesis of several cancers, the repurposing of targeted therapies developed in ...

Semen cryopreservation and storage in liquid nitrogen: Impact on chromatin compaction

open access: yesAndrology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Sperm cryopreservation is a consolidate option for long‐term male fertility preservation. The freezing/thawing procedure causes detrimental effects to spermatozoa, including damage to viability, motility, membrane composition, and DNA, whereas the effect on sperm chromatin compaction is less studied.
