Antibodies to guanosine [PDF]

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 1984
Bovine serum albumin conjugates of guanosine prepared by the periodate method was used as immunogen to elicit guanosine antibodies in rabbits. The specificities of the antibodies were studied by the inhibition of their binding to [3H]Gox‐red, [32P]DNA and [3H]RNA by related non‐radioactive compounds.

Smartphone-Based Chemiluminescence Glucose Biosensor Employing a Peroxidase-Mimicking, Guanosine-Based Self-Assembled Hydrogel

open access: yesBiosensors, 2023
Chemiluminescence is widely used for hydrogen peroxide detection, mainly exploiting the highly sensitive peroxidase-luminol-H2O2 system. Hydrogen peroxide plays an important role in several physiological and pathological processes and is produced by ...

Neuromodulatory Effects of Guanine-Based Purines in Health and Disease

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular Neuroscience, 2018
The function of guanine-based purines (GBPs) is mostly attributed to the intracellular modulation of heteromeric and monomeric G proteins. However, extracellular effects of guanine derivatives have also been recognized.

Nitric oxide-generating vasodilators and 8-bromo-cyclic guanosine monophosphate inhibit mitogenesis and proliferation of cultured rat vascular smooth muscle cells.

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Investigation, 1989
Endothelium-derived relaxing factor has been recently identified as nitric oxide. The purpose of this study was to determine if vasodilator drugs that generate nitric oxide inhibit vascular smooth muscle mitogenesis and proliferation in culture.

Simultaneous quantification of 12 different nucleotides and nucleosides released from renal epithelium and in human urine samples using ion-pair reversed-phase HPLC [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Nucleotides and nucleosides are not only involved in cellular metabolism but also act extracellularly via P1 and P2 receptors, to elicit a wide variety of physiological and pathophysiological responses through paracrine and autocrine signalling pathways.

Associations between purine metabolites and clinical symptoms in schizophrenia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Background: The antioxidant defense system, which is known to be dysregulated in schizophrenia, is closely linked to the dynamics of purine pathway. Thus, alterations in the homeostatic balance in the purine pathway may be involved in the pathophysiology

Microtubules grow by the addition of bent guanosine triphosphate tubulin to the tips of curved protofilaments

open access: yesJournal of Cell Biology, 2018
We used electron tomography to examine microtubules (MTs) growing from pure tubulin in vitro as well as two classes of MTs growing in cells from six species.

Antiparkinsonian Efficacy of Guanosine in Rodent Models of Movement Disorder

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2017
Guanosine (GUO) is a guanine-based purine nucleoside with important trophic functions and promising neuroprotective properties. Although the neuroprotective effects of GUO have been corroborated in cellular models of Parkinson’s disease (PD), its ...

Impact of C-Terminal Chemistry on Self-Assembled Morphology of Guanosine Containing Nucleopeptides

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
Herein, we report the design and characterization of guanosine-containing self-assembling nucleopeptides that form nanosheets and nanofibers. Through spectroscopy and microscopy analysis, we propose that the peptide component of the nucleopeptide drives ...

Conformational changes in the GTPase modules of the signal reception particle and its receptor drive initiation of protein translocation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
During cotranslational protein targeting, two guanosine triphosphatase (GTPase) in the signal recognition particle (SRP) and its receptor (SR) form a unique complex in which hydrolyses of both guanosine triphosphates (GTP) are activated in a shared ...
