The potential therapeutic effect of guanosine after cortical focal ischemia in rats.
Background and purposeStroke is a devastating disease. Both excitotoxicity and oxidative stress play important roles in ischemic brain injury, along with harmful impacts on ischemic cerebral tissue. As guanosine plays an important neuroprotective role in

Nanodiamond Quantum Sensors for Probing Free Radical Biology
Free radicals play key roles in cellular signaling and disease but remain difficult to measure in living systems. Nanodiamonds (NDs) with nitrogen‐vacancy (NV) centers enable quantum sensing of local magnetic noise via T₁ relaxometry, providing nondestructive radical detection in living cells.

Charge Transfer-oxy Radical Mechanism for Anti-cancer Agents [PDF]
The proposal is advanced that anti-cancer drugs generally function by charge transfer resulting in formation of toxic oxy radicals which destroy the neoplasm.

15N NMR study of a mixture of uniformly labeled tRNAs [PDF]
15N NMR spectra were taken of 15N-enriched tRNA extracted from bakers yeast; ammonium sulfate was used as a nitrogen source. The increase in the degree of denaturation of tRNA, which occurs with increase in temperature from 30 degrees C to 70 degrees C ...

Nonenzymatic Formation of Guanosine 3′ : 5′-Monophosphate from Guanosine Triphosphate
Abstract We observed the nonenzymatic formation of guanosine 3' : 5'-monophosphate (cyclic GMP) from GTP. The reaction was dependent upon heat and was accelerated by divalent cations and creatine phosphate. The formation of cyclic GMP was greater with increased incubation time, temperature, GTP concentration, and pH. All of the divalent cations tested (
