Guanosine-5'-O-(3-thiotriphosphate) modifies kinetics of voltage-dependent calcium current in chick sensory neurons. [PDF]

open access: bronzeBiophys J, 1989
Internal perfusion with the G-protein activator guanosine-5'-O-(3-thiotriphosphate) (GTP-gamma S) mimics the effect of noradrenaline and dopamine on the voltage-dependent calcium current in chick dorsal root ganglion (DRG) cells. With 100 microM GTP-gamma S in the pipette, the current at +10 mV was depressed by approximately 50%, with a 10-fold ...

Intracellular application of guanosine-5'-O-(3-thiotriphosphate) induces exocytotic granule fusion in guinea pig eosinophils. [PDF]

open access: bronzeJ Exp Med, 1990
The mechanism of eosinophil secretion was studied in guinea pig eosinophils by measuring release of hexosaminidase from cell suspensions (greater than 98% pure) permeabilized with streptolysin-O and by whole-cell patch-clamp capacitance measurements. It is shown that release of eosinophil granule components occurs by an exocytotic mechanism in which ...

Induction of neurite formation in PC12 cells by microinjection of proto-oncogenic Ha-ras protein preincubated with guanosine-5'-O-(3-thiotriphosphate). [PDF]

open access: greenMol Cell Biol, 1987
Rat pheochromocytoma (PC12) cells differentiate to neuronal cells in response to nerve growth factor. It has been shown that microinjection of oncogenic but not proto-oncogenic p21 protein induces morphological differentiation in PC12 cells (D. Bar-Sagi and J. R. Feramisco, Cell 42:841-848, 1985).

Ligand-Independent GLUT4 Translocation Induced by Guanosine 5'-O-(3-Thiotriphosphate) Involves Tyrosine Phosphorylation [PDF]

open access: bronzeEndocrinology, 1998
AbstractTo delineate the signaling pathway leading to glucose transport protein (GLUT4) translocation, we examined the effect of microinjection of the nonhydrolyzable GTP analog, guanosine 5′-O-(3-thiotriphosphate) (GTPγS), into 3T3-L1 adipocytes. Thirty minutes after the injection of 5 mm GTPγS, 40% of injected cells displayed surface GLUT4 staining ...

Guanosine 5′-O-(3-Thiotriphosphate) (GTPγS) Stimulation of GLUT4 Translocation is Tyrosine Kinase-dependent [PDF]

open access: hybridJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1998
Guanosine 5'-O-(3-thiotriphosphate) (GTPgammaS) treatment of permeabilized adipocytes results in GLUT4 translocation similar to that elicited by insulin treatment. However, although the selective phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase inhibitor, wortmannin, completely prevented insulin-stimulated GLUT4 translocation, it was without effect on GTPgammaS ...

Lack of the Transient Receptor Potential Vanilloid 1 Shifts Cannabinoid-Dependent Excitatory Synaptic Plasticity in the Dentate Gyrus of the Mouse Brain Hippocampus [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroanatomy, 2021
The transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) participates in synaptic functions in the brain. In the dentate gyrus, post-synaptic TRPV1 in the granule cell (GC) dendritic spines mediates a type of long-term depression (LTD) of the excitatory ...

Guanosine 5'-O-(3-thiotriphosphate) inhibits capping of reovirus mRNA.

open access: hybridJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1982
RNA synthesized by reovirus cores was not capped or methylated when GTP was replaced by guanosine 5'-O-(3-thiotriphosphate) [gamma-S]GTP as a reaction substrate. Full length transcripts were synthesized in the presence of [gamma-S]GTP which indicated that capping could be dissociated from the process of transcription.

Functional Interaction Between Caveolin 1 and LRRC8-Mediated Volume-Regulated Anion Channel [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2021
Volume-regulated anion channel (VRAC), constituted by leucine-rich repeat-containing 8 (LRRC8) heteromers, is crucial for volume homeostasis in vertebrate cells.

Guanosine 5'-O-(3-thiotriphosphate), a potent nucleotide inhibitor of microtubule assembly.

open access: hybridJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1984
Guanosine 5'-O-(3-thiotriphosphate) (GTP gamma S) and the two diastereoisomers of guanosine 5'-O-(2-thiotriphosphate) (GTP beta S) were prepared enzymatically, and their interactions with tubulin and microtubule-associated proteins (MAPs) in 0.1 M 2-(N-morpholino)ethanesulfonate, 0.5 mM MgCl2 were examined.

Induction of granule release by intracellular application of calcium and guanosine-5′-O-(3-thiotriphosphate) in human eosinophils [PDF]

open access: bronzeJournal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, 1992
The roles of Ca and G proteins in granule release from human eosinophils were examined by use of a patch-clamp technique in single cells. The morphologic changes and the release of eosinophil peroxidase (EPO) from single cells were simultaneously observed. In addition, the expression of small molecular weight guanine nucleotide binding protein (small G
