Magnesium requirements for guanosine 5'-O-(3-thiotriphosphate) induced assembly of microtubule protein and tubulin

Biochemistry, 1986
Two conflicting interpretations on the role of guanosine 5'-O-(3-thiotriphosphate) (GTP gamma S) in microtubule protein and tubulin assembly have been previously reported. One study finds that GTP gamma S promotes assembly while another study reports that GTP gamma S is a potent inhibitor of microtubule assembly.

Guanosine 5′-O-(3-thiotriphosphate) causes endothelium-dependent, pertussis toxin-sensitive relaxations in porcine coronary arteries

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1992
To determine whether direct stimulation of endothelial G-proteins causes relaxations of the underlying vascular smooth muscle, the effects of guanosine 5'-O-(3-thiotriphosphate) (GTP gamma S) and sodium fluoride were studied in porcine coronary arteries and endothelial cells.

2-[125I]iodomelatonin-binding sites in the human kidney and the effect of guanosine 5'-O-(3-thiotriphosphate).

The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 1995
Putative melatonin receptors in normal kidney cortical tissues of patients with transitional cell carcinoma or renal cell carcinoma were characterized using a melatonin agonist, 2-[125I]iodomelatonin, as the radioligand. 2-[125I]Iodomelatonin-binding sites in the human kidney were stable, saturable, reversible, and of high affinity.

Kinetic analysis of guanosine 5'-O-(3-thiotriphosphate) effects on phosphatidylinositol turnover in NRK cell homogenates

Biochemistry, 1987
Addition of the guanine nucleotide analogue guanosine 5'-O-(3-thiotriphosphate) (GTP gamma S) to [3H]inositol-labeled NRK cell homogenates resulted in rapid breakdown of cellular polyphosphoinositides. GTP gamma S stimulated phospholipase C, resulting in a more than 4-fold increase in the hydrolysis rates of phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate (PIP) and ...

Induction of granule release by intracellular application of calcium and guanosine-5′-O-(3-thiotriphosphate) in human eosinophils

Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, 1992
The roles of Ca and G proteins in granule release from human eosinophils were examined by use of a patch-clamp technique in single cells. The morphologic changes and the release of eosinophil peroxidase (EPO) from single cells were simultaneously observed. In addition, the expression of small molecular weight guanine nucleotide binding protein (small G

Caffeine inhibits cytoplasmic Ca2+ oscillations induced by carbachol and guanosine 5′-O-(3-thiotriphosphate) in hyperpolarized pancreatic ß-cells

Naunyn-Schmiedeberg's Archives of Pharmacology, 1994
The effects of caffeine on cytoplasmic Ca2+ oscillations induced by carbachol and guanosine 5'-O-(3-thiotriphosphate) (GTP-gamma-S) were studied in individual mouse pancreatic beta-cells clamped at a hyperpolarized potential. Addition of 10 mM caffeine did not affect the cytoplasmic Ca2+ concentration ([Ca2+]i) in beta-cells exposed to 20 mM glucose ...

Activation of 5-lipoxygenase by guanosine 5′-O-(3-thiotriphosphate) and other nucleoside phosphorothioates: Redox properties of thionucleotide analogs

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1989
The stable nucleotide analog guanosine 5'-O-(3-thiotriphosphate) (GTP gamma S) was found to be a very potent activator of 5-lipoxygenase in cell-free preparations from rat polymorphonuclear (PMN) leukocytes, causing a 10-fold stimulation of arachidonic acid oxidation at concentrations as low as 0.5-1 microM.

Reconstitution of catecholamine-stimulated binding of guanosine 5'-O-(3-thiotriphosphate) to the stimulatory GTP-binding protein of adenylate cyclase

Biochemistry, 1984
The stimulatory GTP-binding protein (Gs) of adenylate cyclase, purified from rabbit liver, and beta-adrenergic receptors, partially purified 1000-4000-fold from turkey erythrocyte plasma membranes, were coreconstituted into unilamellar phospholipid vesicles.

Characterization, Guanosine 5′-O-(3-Thiotriphosphate) Modulation, Daily Variation, and Localization of Melatonin-Binding Sites in the Catfish (Silurus asotus) Brain

General and Comparative Endocrinology, 1997
Characteristics, guanosine 5'-O-(3-thiotriphosphate) (GTPgammaS) modulation, daily variation, and localization of melatonin-binding sites in the brain of a nocturnal teleost, the catfish Silurus asotus, were studied by radioreceptor assay using 2-[125I]iodomelatonin as the radioligand.
