Mono and combination therapies in pulmonary arterial hypertension patients with comorbidities: A COMPERA analysis

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, EarlyView.
AIM This analysis provides a comparison of the efficacy of initial mono and combination therapy in patients with PAH and cardiovascular comorbidities or with risk factors of HFpEF (heart failure with preserved ejection fractioin).METHOD Data from the European COMPERA registry were used for a matched pair analysis.

Pharmacotherapy of pulmonary hypertension (according to the 2015 ESC/EAS Guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary hypertension)

open access: yesРациональная фармакотерапия в кардиологии, 2016
Indications and efficacy of drugs used for the treatment of pulmonary hypertension are considered. Stages of the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension are discussed, including maintenance therapy, specific therapy with calcium channel blockers ...

Modulation of soluble guanylate cyclase ameliorates pulmonary hypertension in a rat model of chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension by stimulating angiogenesis

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, 2022
Acute pulmonary embolism (PE) does not always resolve after treatment and can progress to chronic thromboembolic disease (CTED) or the more severe chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH).

Baseline characteristics of contemporary trial participants with heart failure and reduced ejection fraction: The VICTOR trial

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Heart Failure, EarlyView.
Baseline characteristics for the vericiguat global study in participants with chronic heart failure (VICTOR) trial. ARNI, angiotensin receptor/neprilysin inhibitor; CRT, cardiac resynchronization therapy; eGFR, estimated glomerular filtration rate; GDMT, guideline‐directed medical therapy; HF, heart failure; HFrEF, heart failure with reduced ejection ...

Bicarbonate and Ca2+ sensing modulators activate photoreceptor ROS-GC1 synergistically

open access: yesFrontiers in Molecular Neuroscience, 2016
Photoreceptor ROS-GC1, a prototype subfamily member of the membrane guanylate cyclase family, is a central component of phototransduction. It is a single transmembrane-spanning protein, composed of modular blocks.

Vericiguat: The Fifth Harmony of Heart Failure with Reduced Ejection Fraction

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Development and Disease, 2023
Heart failure with reduced ejection fraction is a chronic and progressive syndrome that continues to be a substantial financial burden for health systems in Western countries. Despite remarkable advances in pharmacologic and device-based therapy over the

The use of left ventricular ejection fraction in the diagnosis and management of heart failure. A clinical consensus statement of the Heart Failure Association (HFA) of the ESC, the Heart Failure Society of America (HFSA), and the Japanese Heart Failure Society (JHFS)

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Heart Failure, EarlyView.
Abstract This clinical consensus statement revisits the role of left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) as a measurement of cardiac function, a prognostic marker and a major criterion to classify patients with heart failure, and gives new advice for clinical practice.

Increased protein phosphatase 5 expression in inflammation-induced left ventricular dysfunction in rats

open access: yesBMC Cardiovascular Disorders, 2022
Background Titin phosphorylation contributes to left ventricular (LV) diastolic dysfunction. The independent effects of inflammation on the molecular pathways that regulate titin phosphorylation are unclear.

Role of guanylyl cyclase modulation in mouse cone phototransduction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A negative phototransduction feedback in rods and cones is critical for the timely termination of their light responses and for extending their function to a wide range of light intensities. The calcium feedback mechanisms that modulate phototransduction

Minimization or withdrawal of oral pharmacotherapy in chronic heart failure patients with improved myocardial function: A systematic review

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Heart Failure, EarlyView.
This systematic review included seven studies that reported the outcomes of minimization or withdrawal of oral pharmacotherapy in chronic heart failure (HF) patients with improved myocardial function. There is a dearth of existing evidence, which supports only loop diuretic withdrawal and possibly carvedilol monotherapy.
