Comparative analysis of rodent lens morphometrics and biomechanical properties

open access: yesFrontiers in Ophthalmology
IntroductionProper ocular lens function requires biomechanical flexibility, which is reduced during aging. As increasing lens size has been shown to correlate with lens biomechanical stiffness in aging, we tested the hypothesis that whole lens size ...

Adenosine Receptor Mechanisms Underlying Bladder Dysfunction in Male Rats With Bladder Outlet Obstruction

open access: yesNeurourology and Urodynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aims We examined the role of subtypes of adenosine receptors in bladder dysfunction and changes in the adenosine receptor expression in the bladder using male rats with partial bladder outlet obstruction (BOO). Methods In Sprague‐Dawley rats (male 8‐weeks old), BOO was produced by a partial ligation of the urethra along a metal rod of a 1.2 mm

Characterization of an intratracheal aerosol challenge model of Brucella melitensis in guinea pigs.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
B. melitensis is considered the most virulent of the Brucella species, and a need exists for an improved laboratory animal model of infection that mimics natural transmission and disease. Guinea pigs are highly susceptible to infection with Brucella spp.

Quantitative Proteomics of Cochlear Tissues: Bilateral Comparisons in Guinea Pigs and Rats

open access: yesPROTEOMICS, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The cochlea, an incredibly sensitive sensory system, detects sound waves and converts them into electrical signals the brain recognizes as sound. Damage to cochlear hair cells can release proteins, triggering biological responses that may impair hearing.

Long‐term impact of exposure to Royal Guard, a pyriproxyfen‐based bed net, on pyrethroid‐resistant malaria vectors from Cameroon using DNA‐based metabolic resistance markers

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 4, Page 2165-2180, April 2025.
We used recently detected P450 DNA‐based markers of pyrethroid resistance in both Anopheles funestus and Anopheles gambiae to demonstrate that although pyrethroid‐resistant mosquitoes have higher ability to survive and live longer after exposure to Royal Guard, this net significantly affects their lifespan, blood feeding ability and interestingly ...

Complex‐mediated nucleophilic aromatic substitution with aryl nitriles to realize intramolecular flapping‐restricted D‐A AIEgens for bioimaging

open access: yesSmart Molecules, EarlyView.
In this work, we developed a complex‐mediated nucleophilic aromatic substitution which can generate rich D‐A AIEgens under a facile condition. The AIE mechanism of such AIEgens was unveiled and their application towards fatty liver imaging was exhibited. Abstract Donor‐acceptor (D‐A) compounds are particularly important in optoelectronic and biological

Gastric dilatation and volvulus in a capybara (Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris, Linnaeus, 1766)

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, EarlyView.
Abstract Gastric torsion has been described in several species, but this is the first documented case in a capybara. An entire, 6‐year‐old, female capybara was found dead in the indoor enclosure of the zoo in the morning. Pathological examinations revealed a large, bloated stomach upon opening the abdominal cavity.
