Custom Shape Formation in Continuum Robots Using Compliant Bistable Segments for Medical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This article describes the integration of compliant bi‐stability in continuum robots. This integration leads to two variants of compliant bistable mechanism (CBM) integrated continuum robot segments, extending and locking. Results show that when used together, these CBM‐integrated segments allow the continuum robot to form custom shapes.

Causes of delayed angiosperm diversification: The photosynthetic revolution, increased opportunity costs of anti‐herbivore defenses, selection for qualitative toxins, and acceleration of plant–herbivore coevolution

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Abstract Why did it take so long for angiosperms to diversify after they arose? Here I consider the indirect but potentially crucial impact of the “photosynthetic revolution” on plant–herbivore coevolution. Increased vein density in fossil leaves implies a doubling in photosynthesis 125–100 million years ago.

CD30 as a Target Molecule in the Diagnosis and Therapy of Lymphomas

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The tumor necrosis factor (TNF)‐receptor superfamily 8 receptor CD30 molecule is expressed in all tumor cells of Hodgkin lymphoma and anaplastic large cell lymphoma but is only weakly expressed in a small subset of large lymphoid cells in normal peripheral lymphoid tissues.
