Abstract Antibiotic resistance is a significant threat to global public health and can disproportionately affect low‐ and middle‐ income countries (LMICs). There is a lack of studies focusing on antibiotic resistance in coral reef regions and environmental reservoirs in Central America.

This study analyzed gut microbiota in older adults with and without Frailty Syndrome by 16S rRNA gene sequencing and metagenomics. Frailty was associated with altered microbial composition, metabolic functions, and increased antimicrobial resistance, whereas non‐frail individuals showed healthier profiles.

Detection of Multi-drug Resistant \u3cem\u3eEscherichia coli\u3c/em\u3e in the Urban Waterways of Milwaukee, WI [PDF]
Urban waterways represent a natural reservoir of antibiotic resistance which may provide a source of transferable genetic elements to human commensal bacteria and pathogens. The objective of this study was to evaluate antibiotic resistance of Escherichia

Integrating the Ecosystem Services Framework to Define Dysbiosis of the Breastfed Infant Gut: The Role of B. infantis and Human Milk Oligosaccharides [PDF]
Mounting evidence supports a connection between the composition of the infant gut microbiome and long-term health. In fact, aberrant microbiome compositions during key developmental windows in early life are associated with increased disease risk ...

Genome of the carbapenemase-producing clinical isolate Elizabethkingia miricola EM_CHUV and comparative genomics with Elizabethkingia meningoseptica and Elizabethkingia anophelis: evidence for intrinsic multidrug resistance trait of emerging pathogens. [PDF]
Elizabethkingia miricola is a Gram-negative non-fermenting rod emerging as a life-threatening human pathogen. The multidrug-resistant (MDR) carbapenemase-producing clinical isolate E.

Antibiotic-resistant Escherichia Coli from Retail Poultry Meat with Different Antibiotic Use Claims [PDF]
Background We sought to determine if the prevalence of antibiotic-resistant Escherichia coli differed across retail poultry products and among major production categories, including organic, “raised without antibiotics”, and conventional.
