“Yet the Problem Remains”: Why Genetic Determinism Still Haunts Biomedical Research
ABSTRACT After the horrors of the Holocaust and its connections to eugenics were revealed to the world, many post‐war population geneticists sought to establish rhetorical distance from the Nazi's state‐led campaigns, without abandoning their belief that actively shaping the population's genetics would produce a prosperous society.

New perspectives on VEGF signalling in Alzheimer's disease
Emery et al. bring together findings from recent multi‐omic studies, including single‐cell mRNA analysis of human post‐mortem brain tissue, and proteomic analysis of matched CSF and blood samples in large clinical studies. The authors present evidence of the involvement of altered VEGF signalling in vascular and immune dysfunction and neurodegeneration

Psychedelics, entactogens and psychoplastogens for depression and related disorders
Currently, the most actively investigated rapidly acting antidepressants, anxiolytics and/or anti PTSD agents, include psychedelics e.g. psilocybin, LSD, N,N‐dimethyltryptamine, ayahuasca; non‐hallucinogenic entactogens, e.g. MDMA; psychoplastogens which rapidly promote neuroplasticity, e.g.

PDE4D and PDE3B orchestrate distinct cAMP microdomains in 3T3‐L1 adipocytes
Basal conditions: •Ins/PDE3B lowers cytoplasmic cAMP (cyt‐cAMP) without affecting plasma membrane cAMP (pm‐cAMP). •Insulin decreases lipid droplet cAMP (LD‐cAMP) independent of PDE3B. •FGF1/PDE4D modestly reduces both cyt‐ and pm‐cAMP, while PDE4D alone can modulate LD‐cAMP. ISO stimulation: •Ins/PDE3B has minimal impact on cyt‐cAMP.

Angiotensin II induces vascular inflammation, senescence, extracellular matrix (ECM) degradation and endothelial dysfunction, thus impairing SK+/IK+ channel function and reducing endothelial‐dependent hyperpolarisation (EDH). Metformin activates AMPK, increasing SK+/IK+ channel function and restoring vasorelaxation.
