Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

0.003°/h bias instability of honeycomb disk resonator gyroscope achieved by mode reversal combined mode deflection control method

open access: yesMicrosystems & Nanoengineering
Microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) gyroscopes with higher precision have always been a focal point of research. Due to limitations in resonant structure, fabrication processes, and measurement and control techniques, MEMS gyroscopes with bias ...

Preliminary efforts toward a compact D–D neutron generator based on a helicon plasma source [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Advances
This study attempted to apply a helicon plasma source to a compact Deuterium–Deuterium (D–D) neutron generator, ultimately achieving a maximum neutron yield of up to 1.27 × 109 n/s with stable operation for over 1 h.

Alfvenic Ion Temperature Gradient Activities in a Weak Magnetic Shear Plasma

open access: yes, 2016
We report the first experimental evidence of Alfvenic ion temperature gradient (AITG) modes in HL-2A Ohmic plasmas. A group of oscillations with $f=15-40$ kHz and $n=3-6$ is detected by various diagnostics in high-density Ohmic regimes.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

On Greenwald density limit in H-mode

open access: yesPhysics of Plasmas, 2009
The experimental Greenwald density limit in tokamak H-mode is explained from the requirements that in the edge transport barrier the radial pressure gradient does not exceed the ballooning stability threshold and the plasma collisionality corresponds to the transition from the plateau regime of neoclassical transport to the Pfirsch–Schlüter one, where ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.
