Vasopressin, insulin and peroxide(s) of vanadate (pervanadate) influence Na+ transport mediated by (Na+, K+)ATPase or Na+/H+ exchanger of rat liver plasma membrane vesicles [PDF]
Uptake of 22Na+ by liver plasma membrane vesicles, reflecting Na+ transport by (Na+, K+)ATPase or Na+/ H+ exchange was studied. Membrane vesicles were isolated from rat liver homogenates or from freshly prepared rat hepatocytes incubated in the presence of [Arg8]vasopressin or pervanadate and insulin.

Conformational rearrangement of gastric H+,K+-ATPase induced by an acid suppressant
Acid-related gastric diseases are associated with disorder of digestive tract acidification. The gastric proton pump, H+,K+-ATPase, exports H+ in exchange for luminal K+ to generate a highly acidic environment in the stomach, and is a main target for ...

Abstract Ellagic acid (EA), a dimer of gallic acid is mainly present in pomegranates and berries possessing health-promoting benefits via its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. We have evaluated the in vitro activity of EA on Na+, H+ exchanger (NHE), Na+, K+ ATPases, and Ca2+ ATPases activity in the control and tert-butyl ...

Effects of salinity challenge on the endocrine control of osmoregulation and calcium homeostasis in the sea bream [PDF]
The gilthead sea bream (Sparus auratu) is a marine species often found in coastal lagoons, experimenting episodic exposures to both brackish and hypersaline environments.

The H+/K+-ATPase or proton pump is a magnesium-dependant enzyme which causes the exchange of a proton against a potassium ion through a membrane. Over activity of this enzyme causes hyperacidity by producing more of hydrochloric acid inside the stomach ...

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Solubilization and reconstitution of the gastric H,K-ATPase.
Proteoliposomes containing the hog gastric H+,K+-ATPase were prepared from cholate and n-octyl glucoside extracts of native microsomes. Experiments were presented which show reconstitution-dependent selective purification of a 94-kDa peptide capable of ...

Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

A genetic modifier screen identifies chromosomal intervals harboring potential midline interacting genes [PDF]
This work investigates the growth of B-C-N layers by chemical vapor deposition using methylamine borane (MeAB) as single-source precursor. MeAB has been synthesized and characterized, paying particular attention to the analysis of its thermolysis ...

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...
