Spectroscopic observations of Hαemission-line stars from Sanduleak & Stephenson's 1973 (SS73) list [PDF]

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics, 2003
We present spectroscopic observations of 33 emission line stars from the Sanduleak & Stephenson's (1973) list. This work is part of a program to investigate emission-line objects in the southern hemisphere whose nature is not well established in the literature.

Identification of serum protein biomarkers for pre‐cancerous lesions associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...

Looking at the Distant Universe with the MeerKAT Array: The H i Mass Function in the Local Universe

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We present measurements of the neutral atomic hydrogen (H i ) mass function (H i MF) and cosmic H i density (Ω _H I ) at 0 ≤ z ≤ 0.088 from the Looking at the Distant Universe with MeerKAT Array (LADUMA) survey.

Spectroscopy of Infrared Flares from the Microquasar GRS 1915+105 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
We present near-infrared medium-resolution ($R \sim 875$) spectra of the microquasar GRS 1915+105 on 1997 August 13-15 UTC from the Hale 200-inch telescope. The spectra showed broad emission lines of He I (2.058 $\mu$m) and H I (2.166 $\mu$m - Br$\gamma$)

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Classification of Radio Backgrounds at Cosmic Dawn and 21 cm Signal Confirmation Using Neural Networks

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Several ongoing and upcoming radio telescopes aim to detect either the global 21 cm signal or the 21 cm power spectrum. The extragalactic radio background, as detected by ARCADE-2 and LWA-1, suggests a strong radio background from cosmic dawn, which can ...

Interstellar H-Alpha Line Profiles toward HD 93521 and the Lockman Window

open access: yes, 2001
We have used the Wisconsin H-Alpha Mapper (WHAM) facility to measure the interstellar H-Alpha emission toward the high Galactic latitude O star HD 93521 (l = 183.1, b = +62.2). Three emission components were detected having radial velocities of -10 km s^{

Multi-wavelength observations of Proxima Centauri [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We report simultaneous observations of the nearby flare star Proxima Centauri with VLT/UVES and XMM-Newton over three nights in March 2009. Our optical and X-ray observations cover the star's quiescent state, as well as its flaring activity and allow us ...

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated
