Chromosome doubling by colchicine injection and haploidy induction in tropical genotypes of common and supersweet corn

open access: yesSemina: Ciências Agrárias
The double-haploid technology in maize was developed in temperate environments, using germplasm and inducers adapted for these environments, with the aim of accelerating the obtaining of homozygous inbred lines.

PDGA: The primal-dual genetic algorithm [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Copyright @ 2003 IOS PressGenetic algorithms (GAs) are a class of search algorithms based on principles of natural evolution. Hence, incorporating mechanisms used in nature may improve the performance of GAs.

Present status of haploidy research in onion (Allium cepa) – A review

open access: yesThe Indian Journal of Agricultural Sciences, 2019
Research on haploid induction and their subsequent utilization in basic and genomic research and breeding is still at its infancy due to paucity of research efforts, difficulties in various critical steps, large genome size and limited publications ...

Unveiling the Evolutionary History of cis‐Andean Alouatta (Atelidae, Alouattinae) Through Mitochondrial Genomes

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Primatology, Volume 87, Issue 5, May 2025.
Mitochondrial DNA analysis suggests that founder‐event speciation played a key role in the divergence between cis‐Andean and trans‐Andean clades, as well as in the diversification of cis‐Andean lineages. Ancestral range reconstruction using mitochondrial genomes indicates that the most recent common ancestor of Alouatta had a widespread distribution ...

Single locus complementary sex determination in Hymenoptera: an "unintelligent" design? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The haplodiploid sex determining mechanism in Hymenoptera (males are haploid, females are diploid) has played an important role in the evolution of this insect order.

Cellular origins of mucinous ovarian carcinoma

open access: yesThe Journal of Pathology, Volume 266, Issue 1, Page 9-25, May 2025.
Abstract Mucinous ovarian carcinoma (MOC) is a rare histotype of epithelial ovarian cancer. Its origins are obscure: while many mucinous tumours in the ovary are metastases from the gastrointestinal tract, MOC can occur as an ovarian primary; however, the cell of origin is not well established.

A Chemical Screen Identifies Compounds Capable of Selecting for Haploidy in Mammalian Cells

open access: yesCell Reports, 2019
Summary: The recent availability of somatic haploid cell lines has provided a unique tool for genetic studies in mammals. However, the percentage of haploid cells rapidly decreases in these cell lines, which we recently showed is due to their overgrowth ...

Haploidy in Peach1

open access: yesHortScience, 1974
Abstract Twenty-four haploids of peach [Prunus persica (L.) Batsch] were obtained by visual selection in seedling populations growing in the greenhouse. Frequencies varied markedly between some progenies. Meiosis in pollen-mother cells was extremely irregular. Ten haploids diploidized by colchicine treatment were fertile and resembled natural diploids.

Cytological and molecular characterization of three gametoclones of Citrus clementina [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Background Three gametoclonal plants of Citrus clementina Hort. ex Tan., cv. Nules, designated ESP, FRA, and ITA (derived from three labs in Spain, France, and Italy, respectively), were selected for cytological and molecular characterization in order
