Transducers convert physical signals into electrical and optical representations, yet each mechanism is bounded by intrinsic trade‐offs across bandwidth, sensitivity, speed, and energy. This review maps transduction mechanisms across physical scale and frequency, showing how heterogeneous integration and multiphysics co‐design transform isolated ...

Emulating Social Haptic Communication with Vibration patterns
Social Haptic Communication (SHC) is a tactile mode of communication used by persons with deafblindness [1]. It involves tracing shapes or other types of spatiotemporal patterns with the hand on the back or other body parts of another person. Tactile shapes can also be traced by sequentially switching vibration motors on and off [2].

Haptic Empathy: Investigating Individual Differences in Affective Haptic Communications
Nowadays, touch remains essential for emotional conveyance and interpersonal communication as more interactions are mediated remotely. While many studies have discussed the effectiveness of using haptics to communicate emotions, incorporating affect into haptic design still faces challenges due to individual user tactile acuity and preferences.

Sampled Data Systems Passivity and Discrete Port-Hamiltonian Systems [PDF]
In this paper, we present a novel way to approach the interconnection of a continuous and a discrete time physical system. This is done in a way which preserves passivity of the coupled system independently of the sampling time T.
