Thin‐Film Transistor Based Active Taxel for Multimode Tactile Perception and Fused Processing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Skin serves as the largest‐area organ for human and embodied intelligent robots, providing tactile interaction. An active multimode fused (AMF) artificial skin is developed using standard TFT processes, featuring 2T‐1C taxels with optical and electrostatic capacitive receptors for cross‐modal sensing.

Resource allocation for D2D-assisted haptic communications

open access: yesDigital Communications and Networks
Haptic communications is recognized as a promising enabler of extensive services by enabling real-time haptic control and feedback in remote environments, e.g., teleoperation and autonomous driving. Considering the strict transmission requirements on reliability and latency, Device-to-Device (D2D) communications is introduced to assist haptic ...

Expectations for user experience in haptic communication with mobile devices

open access: yes, 2009
The haptic modality -the sense of touch -is utilized very limitedly in current human-computer interaction. Especially in mobile communication, the haptic modality could provide a means for richer multimodal and emotional communication between users over ...

A frame work for the haptic rendering of the human hand

open access: yes, 2003
International audienceIn this paper we present a framework that allows the haptic rendering of interactions between the human hand and a virtual environment consisting of polygonal objects. The proposed solution creates a representation of the human hand

Bio‐Inspired Mechanical Amplification Block on Implantable Tactile Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
. ABSTRACT Implantable strain sensors offer opportunities for continuous biomechanical monitoring, but their performance deteriorates severely once embedded in soft tissue due to mechanical shielding that suppresses strain transmission to the sensing layer.

Multiscale Textile‐Based Haptic Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems
Wearable haptic devices transmit information via touch receptors in the skin, yet devices located on parts of the body with high densities of receptors, such as fingertips and hands, impede interactions. Other locations that are well‐suited for wearables,
