Rodent monocyte‐derived macrophages do not express CD163: Comparative analysis using macrophages from living boreoeutherians

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background CD163 is a scavenger receptor predominantly expressed on the surfaces of macrophages in various mammalian species and is a marker of anti‐inflammatory (M2‐like) macrophages. High density of CD163‐positive tumor‐associated macrophages (TAMs) is associated with worse prognosis in various patient tumors.

Agarose gel serum protein electrophoresis in cats with and without lymphoma and preliminary results of tandem mass fingerprinting analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
<b>Background</b>: Serum electrophoretic profiles in cats are poorly characterized with respect to the protein components of the globulin fractions, and interpretation of the electrophoretograms has routinely been done in ignorance of the ...

Diagnostic accuracy of Wisconsin and California scoring systems to detect bovine respiratory disease in preweaning dairy calves under subtropical environmental conditions

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 2022
: Bovine respiratory disease (BRD) is a multifactorial disease which causes short- and long-term negative effects. Early detection is crucial for a prompt response to therapy, as well as to decrease mortality risk.

Protein glycosylation in lung cancer from a mass spectrometry perspective

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
Abstract Lung cancer is a severe disease for which better diagnostic and therapeutic approaches are urgently needed. Increasing evidence implies that aberrant protein glycosylation plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis and progression of lung cancer.

Quantifying Protein–Glycan Interactions Using Native Mass Spectrometry

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Interactions between glycan‐binding proteins (GBPs) and carbohydrates (glycans) are essential to many biological processes relevant to human health and disease. For most GBPs, however, their glycan interactome—the repertoire of glycans recognized and their specificities—is poorly defined.

Variation of inflammatory dynamics and mediators in primiparous cows after intramammary challenge with Escherichia coli [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The objective of the current study was to investigate (i) the outcome of experimentally induced Escherichia coli mastitis in primiparous cows during early lactation in relation with production of eicosanoids and inflammatory indicators, and (ii) the ...

Evaluating the Biochemical and Haematological Safety of the Histoplasma capsulatum var. farciminosum '8ZH' Vaccine in Foals. [PDF]

open access: yesVet Med Sci
This study assessed the biochemical and haematological safety of the inactivated Histoplasma capsulatum var. farciminosum ‘8ZH’ vaccine in foals. No adverse clinical signs or significant changes in liver, kidney or acute‐phase protein markers were observed.

Diagnosis and Management of Prenatal Hereditary Pyropoikilocytosis

open access: yesPrenatal Diagnosis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hereditary pyropoikilocytosis (HPP) is a severe hemolytic anemia caused by variants in SPTA1, SPTB, and EPB41. These weaken horizontal interactions in the erythrocyte cytoskeleton, causing membrane fragmentation and splenic sequestration. It will readily cause fetal anemia and often hydrops fetalis. Prenatal diagnosis requires first ruling out
