From Lyapunov modes to their exponents for hard disk systems [PDF]
We demonstrate the preservation of the Lyapunov modes by the underlying tangent space dynamics of hard disks. This result is exact for the zero modes and correct to order $ $ for the transverse and LP modes where $ $ is linear in the mode number. For sufficiently large mode numbers the dynamics no longer preserves the mode structure.

Temperature phase transitions in Rb2KRe3+F6 elpasolites - Raman spectroscopy study
Phase transitions in crystals of fluorine-containing elpasolites are investigated by Raman scattering spectroscopy. It was found that lattice instabilities in these crystals are induced by soft mode condensations, while restorations of these modes in ...

Customization of two-dimensional extremal materials
Extremal materials are elastic metamaterials with rank-deficient elasticity tensor. Due to this novel property of the elasticity tensor, extremal materials (especially pentamode materials) show outstanding performance in various wave manipulation ...

MODULATIONAL INSTABILITY OF THE RADIAL VIBRATIONS OF CORONAL LOOPS
Axisymmetric modes in coronal loops are used to interpret observed fast microwave and hard x-ray pulsations. Their properties are well studied in the approximation of linear magnetic hydrodynamics.

Vibrations of straight pipes/beams with two-sided stops: Analytical and numerical analyzes
The impacts on pipes or beams are of fundamental mechanical interest. These impacts can be studied analytically. This makes it easier to examine the basic effects and to compare these effects with the results of finite element analyzes (FEA).

Lyapunov Mode Dynamics in Hard-Disk Systems [PDF]
The tangent dynamics of the Lyapunov modes and their dynamics as generated numerically - {\it the numerical dynamics} - is considered. We present a new phenomenological description of the numerical dynamical structure that accurately reproduces the experimental data for the quasi-one-dimensional hard-disk system, and shows that the Lyapunov mode ...

Reaching Hard-to-Survey Populations: Mode Choice and Mode Preference [PDF]
Abstract This study assesses the effect of response-mode choices on response rates, and responsemode preferences of hard-to-survey populations: young adults, full-time workers, big city inhabitants, and non-Western immigrants. Using address-based sampling, a stratified sample of 3,496 households was selected.

Mode transformer for hard-surface waveguides [PDF]
Mode transformation effect inside a corrugated circular waveguide filled with gyrotropic material, e.g., magnetoplasma or ferrite, is considered. The corrugation is in axial direction and the depth of the corrugation is a quarter wave length forming a boundary condition equal to a hard surface (HS).
