Vulgarinin, a broad-spectrum antifungal peptide from haricot beans (Phaseolus vulgaris)

The International Journal of Biochemistry & Cell Biology, 2005
From the seeds of haricot beans (Phaseolus vulgaris), an antifungal peptide with a molecular mass around 7 kDa was purified by using a simple protocol consisting of affinity chromatography on Affi-gel blue gel and gel filtration on Superdex 75. This peptide named vulgarinin manifested an antifungal activity toward fungal species such as Fusarium ...

A homotetrameric agglutinin with antiproliferative and mitogenic activities from haricot beans

Journal of Chromatography B, 2005
A homotetrameric agglutinin with a molecular mass of 130 kDa was isolated from seeds of the haricot bean. The agglutinin was isolated using a procedure that involved ion exchange chromatography on DEAE-cellulose, affinity chromatography on Affi-gel blue gel and gel filtration by fast protein liquid chromatography on Superdex 200.

Optimization of bacterial cellulose production by Gluconacetobacter xylinus using carob and haricot bean

International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, 2016
Bacterial cellulose (BC) can be used in medical, biomedical, electronic, food, and paper industries because of its unique properties distinguishing it from plant cellulose. BC production was statistically optimized by Gluconacetobacter xylinus strain using carob and haricot bean (CHb) medium.

Saponins and sapogenins of chick pea, haricot bean and red kidney bean

Food Chemistry, 1987
Abstract The saponins of red kidney bean ( Phaseolus vulgaris ), chick pea ( Cicer arientinum ) and haricot bean ( Phaseolus vulgaris ) all contain soyasapogenol B as the only aglycone. The levels of soyasapogenol B estimated were: chick pea, 0·075%; haricot bean, 0·149%; and red kidney bean, 0·102%; on a defatted, dry weight basis.
