Abstract The β-carbolines present in human platelets have been extracted with diethyl ether, isolated by liquid column chromatography and thin-layer chromatography (TLC), and identified by ultraviolet fluorimetry, gas liquid chromatography (GC) and mass spectrometry (MS). Harman (1-methyl-β-carboline) was the only β-carboline unequivocally identified

The work discusses new approaches to determination of thermoelectric material properties based on Harman's method. New measurement methods are proposed, analysis of errors is made and methods of their instrumental determination are developed. Examples of precise measurement of thermoelectric material properties are given.

Proponents of the analytic-synthetic distinction claim that we cannot give up basic analytic principles without changing the meaning of our words. This presupposes a real distinction between changing our view and only appearing to change it by changing the meaning of words used to state it. But the distinction is only a matter of degree.
