Colliding-pulse harmonically mode-locked fiber laser

Applied Physics B, 2001
A Fabry–Perot semiconductor saturable absorber has been implemented in a colliding pulse configuration for stabilizing a harmonically mode-locked fiber laser. An environmentally stable CPM design is shown to enhance supermode suppression.

Stabilization of passive harmonic mode-locking by amplitude modulation

IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 2002
We demonstrate a fiber laser that is passively mode locked by a semiconductor saturable absorber and stabilized by the amplitude modulation. The synchronization of a dropout-free harmonic mode locking to an external clock was obtained with the pulse characteristics solely determined by the saturable absorber action, and not by the applied amplitude ...

Harmonically Fourier Domain Mode-Locked Optoelectronic Oscillator

IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 2019
We experimentally demonstrate a harmonically Fourier domain mode-locked optoelectronic oscillator (FDML OEO). Harmonic Fourier domain mode locking operation is achieved when the cavity round-trip time is equal to integer multiples of the scanning period of the filter in the OEO loop.

Axial mode locking in a harmonic-multiplying, inverted gyrotwystron

IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science, 2000
When in microwave sources, an open waveguide operating at frequencies close to cutoff is used as a resonator, a number of modes with the same transverse structure, but different axial distribution can be excited by an electron beam. The width of the resonance curves of these modes broadens as the number of axial variations grows.

Effect of partial mode locking on second harmonic generation

Soviet Journal of Quantum Electronics, 1979
Theoretical and experimental investigations were made of the effect of partial locking of "domain"-type axial and transverse modes on the characteristics of second harmonic generation. An analysis was made in the constant field approximation using a second-order correlation function formalism and the reverse effect of the second harmonic was allowed ...

Passive harmonic mode-locking of soliton fibre lasers [PDF]

open access: possible, 1995
We show that low time jitter of a harmonic passively mode-locked laser can be obtained at repetition rates close to acoustic eigen-frequencies of the optical fibre.

Harmonically mode-locked fibre soliton lasers and their applications [PDF]

open access: possible, 1995
We present a detailed description of a passive harmonically mode-locked laser. Experimental results are consistent with the suggestion of a passive self-stabilization effect driven by transverse acoustic wave excitation due to electrostriction. We also demonstrate some applications of the laser.
