Proteasome inhibitor, ixazomib prevents topoisomerase‐I degradation and reverses irinotecan resistance in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ixazomib inhibits proteasome‐mediated degradation of topoisomerase I induced by irinotecan, thereby restoring drug sensitivity and promoting tumor cell death in colorectal cancer. Irinotecan, a topoisomerase I (topoI) inhibitor, is widely used for colorectal cancer, but resistance remains a major clinical challenge.

A low-cost MLS prototype for voxel-based above-ground biomass estimation in short-rotation plantations

open access: yesFrontiers in Remote Sensing
Short-rotation plantations of fast-growing trees (FGT) offer a sustainable biomass source to mitigate climate change and boost rural energy self-sufficiency. Accurate estimation of woody above-ground biomass (AGB) is critical for efficient management and

A Prototype Harvester For Chickpea Harvesting

open access: yesResearch in Agricultural Sciences
To meet the needs of Iranian farmers who grow rainfed chickpeas, a new harvester was developed and tested. The project began with a modified stripper harvester and continued with a new design. The main components of the machine, such as the platform, reel, chassis and power transmission system, were improved to enhance its work quality.

Stimulator of interferon genes agonist augmented antitumor immunity of osimertinib in Egfr‐mutated lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining osimertinib with the STING agonist ADU‐S100 activates innate and adaptive immunity to overcome the non‐inflamed microenvironment of Egfr‐mutant lung cancer. This combination increases NK and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, associated with activation of the STING‐IRF3 pathway and local immunogenic cell death.

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

Vibration energy harvesting using the Halbach array

open access: yes, 2012
This paper studies the feasibility of vibration energy harvesting using a Halbach array. A Halbach array is a specific arrangement of permanent magnets that concentrates the magnetic field on one side of the array while cancelling the field to almost ...

On the design of an energy-harvesting noise-sensing WSN mote [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) could potentially help in the measurement and monitoring of noise levels, an important step in mitigating and fighting noise pollution.

Analysis and Comparison of Methods for Determining Small Piles of Wood Chips Using Laser Scanning Technology

open access: yesBioResources
The monitoring of forest biomass stock volumes in larger operations is typically conducted irregularly, either by tracking cargo arrivals or by using simple manual measurement methods.

Finding novel vulnerabilities of hypomorphic BRCA1 alleles

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Synthetic lethality screens performed to identify novel vulnerabilities often model complete gene loss, thereby overlooking patient‐derived hypomorphic mutations. In this study, we have performed genome‐wide CRISPR screens on BRCA1 hypomorphic mutations, showing BRCA1I26A behaves like wild‐type, while BRCA1R1699Q mimics deficiency. Furthermore, we have

Rainwater Harvesting Potential for Domestic Water Supply in Edo State [PDF]

open access: yes
In the face of increasing scarcity of water resources, there is a need for communities to undertake audits of their current rainwater harvesting potential as a practical and promising alternative solution for water shortage.
