A model for HCMV infection in immunosuppressed patients
We propose a model for HCMV infection in healthy and immunosuppressed patients. First, we present the biological model and formulate a system of ordinary differential equations to describe the pathogenesis of primary HCMV infection in immunocompetent and immunosuppressed individuals.

Human Cytomegalovirus (HCMV)-infected Astrocytoma Cells Impair the Function of HCMV-specific Cytotoxic T Cells [PDF]
Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) infection in glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is associated with a poor prognosis and may affect the pathogenesis of GBM. In this study, we investigated the role of HCMV-infected astrocytoma cells in impairing the activity of cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) specific to the HCMV protein.CTLs specific to HCMV immediate early (IE)-

Seroepidemiological Survey of Cytomegalovirus Infection among Pregnant Women in Sudan
Human Cytomegalovirus (HCMV) is a leading healthcare problem associated with stillbirth and congenital abnormalities. Determining the seroprevalence and the possible risk factors related to HCMV infections may be a cornerstone in preventing its ...

Identification of compounds with anti-human cytomegalovirus activity that inhibit production of IE2 proteins [PDF]
Using a high throughput screening methodology we surveyed a collection of largely uncharacterized validated or suspected kinase inhibitors for anti-human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) activity.

Role of Immunogenetics in the Outcome of HCMV Infection: Implications for Ageing
The outcome of host-virus interactions is determined by a number of factors, some related to the virus, others to the host, such as environmental factors and genetic factors.

Human cytomegalovirus: taking the strain [PDF]
In celebrating the 60th anniversary of the first isolation of human cytomegalovirus (HCMV), we reflect on the merits and limitations of the viral strains currently being used to develop urgently needed treatments.

Abstract Background Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV), a member of the β-herpesvirus family, causes the establishment of a latent infection that persists throughout the life of the host and can be reactivated when immunity is weakened.

Identification and characterization of human cytomegalovirus-encoded circular RNAs
Circular RNA (circRNA) exists extensively and plays essential roles in serving as microRNA (miRNA) or protein sponges and protein scaffolding in many organisms.

HCMV-Encoded NK Modulators: Lessons From in vitro and in vivo Genetic Variation
Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) is under constant selective pressure from the immune system in vivo. Study of HCMV genes that have been lost in the absence of, or genetically altered by, such selection can focus research toward findings of in vivo ...
