AI‐Driven Defecation Analysis by Smart Healthcare Toilet: Exploring Biometric Patterns and Eu‐Tenesmus

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A healthcare toilet system is introduced to passively measure defecation behavior. Real‐time data on stool dropping duration, thickness, and a newly defined “eu‐tenesmus” interval show correlations with stool form and gender differences. Results from 45 defecation events reveal a promising method for comprehensive defecation analysis.

Bolstering cholesteryl ester hydrolysis in liver: A hepatocyte-targeting gene delivery strategy for potential alleviation of atherosclerosis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Current atherosclerosis treatment strategies primarily focus on limiting further cholesteryl esters (CE) accumulation by reducing endogenous synthesis of cholesterol in the liver.

Enhancing z Spin Generation in Trivial Spin Hall Materials for Scalable, Energy‐Efficient, Field‐Free, Complete Spin‐Orbit Torque Switching Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Z‐spin current has the potential to enable efficient electrical switching of perpendicular magnetization. This article reports a giant enhancement of z spin generation in low‐resistivity spin Hall metal/FeCoB devices by alloying Pt with Ti and by electric asymmetry engineering, providing a universal strategy for developing high‐performance generators ...

Nonmonotonic dependence of the absolute entropy on temperature in supercooled Stillinger-Weber silicon

open access: yes, 2012
Using a recently developed thermodynamic integration method, we compute the precise values of the excess Gibbs free energy (G^e) of the high density liquid (HDL) phase with respect to the crystalline phase at different temperatures (T) in the supercooled

HDL particle size is a critical determinant of ABCA1-mediated macrophage cellular cholesterol export.

open access: yesCirculation Research, 2015
RATIONALE High-density lipoprotein (HDL) is a heterogeneous population of particles. Differences in the capacities of HDL subfractions to remove cellular cholesterol may explain variable correlations between HDL-cholesterol and cardiovascular risk and ...

Hepatic CBP/p300 Orchestrate Amino Acid‐Driven Gluconeogenesis through Histone Crotonylation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hepatic CBP/p300 control amino acid‐driven gluconeogenesis by modulating histone crotonylation. This study identifies 2‐aminoadipate (2‐AAA) as a key metabolite that enhances crotonylation and activates amino acid and gluconeogenic gene expression.

Immunochemical studies on human plasma lipoproteins [PDF]

open access: yes, 1957
Some years ago, a series of human serum lipoproteins, distinguishable by their hydrated densities and lipid-protein ratios were recognized and isolated by ultracentrifugal techniques (1).

Structure of HDL: particle subclasses and molecular components.

open access: yesHandbook of Experimental Pharmacology, 2015
A molecular understanding of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) will allow a more complete grasp of its interactions with key plasma remodelling factors and with cell-surface proteins that mediate HDL assembly and clearance.

Deficiency of Leucine‐Rich Repeat Containing G Protein‐Coupled Receptor 4 in Pancreas Reduces β Cell Mass

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In islet β cells, LGR4 binds with Rspondin to activate the Wnt‐β‐catenin‐Ccnd1 axis, leading to a subsequent increase in cell proliferation. On the other hand, LGR4 also binds with RANKL, thus suppressing the phosphorylation of p44/p42 MAPK and p65 NF‐κB and subsequent cell apoptosis.

Application of Hardware Desription Languages to Specification of the Point Module Interlocking Logic

open access: yesAdvances in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, 2005
There is proposal to apply hardware description languages HDL in this paper to specify control movement devices in transport. Languages HDL, mainly used to design specialised programmable and reprogrammable digital devices, allow both simple and precise ...
