Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

CeRNA-based regulatory mechanisms underlying the antioxidant action of quercetin in ox-LDL-induced HUVECs damage: Roles of MALAT1 in PTEN/PI3K/AKT signaling pathway

open access: yesFood Chemistry Advances
The oxidative damage induced by oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL) plays a pivotal role in the development of atherosclerosis. In this study, we investigated the protective effects of quercetin, a plant-derived flavonoid, against ox-LDL-induced ...

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Inulin alleviates HFD-induced NAFLD by hepatic macrophage polarization and lipid metabolism via gut-liver axis

open access: yesFood Science and Human Wellness
Long-term intake of high-fat diet (HFD) leads to systemic hypo-inflammation, which is involved in the pathogenesis of many liver diseases. The aim of this study was to evaluate the interventional effect of inulin addition on HFD-induced non-alcoholic ...
