Effective handling of substantial arterial air embolization during extracorporeal perfusion

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, 2019
This report highlights the need for a coordinated approach to substantial arterial air embolization, considering the high risk of neurologic injury. Appropriate management may involve systemic hypothermia, hyperoxia, and retrograde cerebral perfusion.

Adaptation within embryonic and neonatal heart environment reveals alternative fates for adult c‐kit+ cardiac interstitial cells

open access: yesStem Cells Translational Medicine, 2020
Cardiac interstitial cells (CICs) perform essential roles in myocardial biology through preservation of homeostasis as well as response to injury or stress.

Hearts of twin Cotorsion pairs on extriangulated categories [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Algebra, Vol.528, 96--149, 2019, 2017
In this article, we study the heart of a cotorsion pairs on an exact category and a triangulated category in a unified meathod, by means of the notion of an extriangulated category. We prove that the heart is abelian, and construct a cohomological functor to the heart.

Critical Scale-invariance in Healthy Human Heart Rate [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We demonstrate the robust scale-invariance in the probability density function (PDF) of detrended healthy human heart rate increments, which is preserved not only in a quiescent condition, but also in a dynamic state where the mean level of heart rate is dramatically changing.

Risk of ischemic heart disease in women after radiotherapy for breast cancer.

open access: yesNew England Journal of Medicine, 2013
BACKGROUND Radiotherapy for breast cancer often involves some incidental exposure of the heart to ionizing radiation. The effect of this exposure on the subsequent risk of ischemic heart disease is uncertain.

Localizations of the hearts of cotorsion pairs associated with mutations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In this article, we study localizations of hearts of cotorsion pairs (U,V) where U is rigid on an extriangulated category B. The hearts of such cotorsion pairs are equivalent to the functor categories over the stable category of U. Inspired by Marsh and Palu, we consider the mutation of U that induces a cotorsion pair (U',V').

Heart rate variability: origins, methods, and interpretive caveats.

open access: yesPsychophysiology, 1997
Components of heart rate variability have attracted considerable attention in psychology and medicine and have become important dependent measures in psychophysiology and behavioral medicine.
