The Loss of Vitamin A by Heating

open access: yesNIPPON SUISAN GAKKAISHI, 1948
We measured the loss of vitamin A by heating at various temperature using an arrangement shown in the following picture, and obtained the following ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

USE OF THERMAL IMAGING IN CONSTRUCTION

open access: yesInformatyka, Automatyka, Pomiary w Gospodarce i Ochronie Środowiska, 2019
Thermovision is a research method based on non-invasive and non-contact evaluation of temperature distribution on the surface of the examined body. These methods are based on observation and recording of the distribution of infrared radiation, sent by ...

Physiological Studies of Heat Stress Acclimation During a Specific Exercise Regimen [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
Eleven subjects were used to determine if the exercise regimen of racquetball could be used as a heat stress acclimator. Core temperature, skin temperature, sweat production, and weight loss were recorded during a racquetball match.

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Three-dimensional cellular premixed flames generated by hydrodynamic and diffusive-thermal instabilities (Effects of unburned-gas temperature and heat loss)

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2019
We dealt with three-dimensional cellular premixed flames generated by hydrodynamic and diffusive-thermal instabilities to elucidate the effects of unburned-gas temperature and heat loss.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

The Possibility of Thermal Instability in Early-Type Stars Due to Alfven Waves

open access: yes, 1998
It was shown by dos Santos et al. the importance of Alfv\'en waves to explain the winds of Wolf-Rayet stars. We investigate here the possible importance of Alfv\'en waves in the creation of inhomogeneities in the winds of early-type stars.
