Effects of the swirl number, Reynolds number and nozzle-to-plate distance on impingement heat transfer from swirling jets

open access: yes, 2022
This paper reports on a parametric study of the impingement heat transfer from swirling jets issuing from a circular nozzle. The swirl velocity component is imparted to the flow via a tangential entry into a recirculation chamber located upstream of the ...

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Heat Transfer Modeling and Optimal Thermal Management of Electric Vehicle Battery Systems [PDF]

open access: yes
Lithium ion (Li-ion) battery packs have become the most popular option for powering electric vehicles (EVs). However, they have certain drawbacks, such as high temperatures and potential safety concerns as a result of chemical reactions that occur during

A Method for Detecting Engine Oil Deterioration using Heat Transfer [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Sensor Science and Technology, 2004
This paper presents a method that the engine oil condition is detected using a natural convection heat transfer in a engine oil. A sensor circuit maintains a constant temperature difference between a heat plate and engine oil for detecting a natural convection heat transfer rate on the constant temperature.

Aquaporin‐3 and aquaporin‐5 impact the development of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma spheroids

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Schematic representation of the role of aquaporin‐3 (AQP3) and aquaporin‐5 (AQP5) in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Both proteins are upregulated in PDAC and are associated with tumor progression and metastatic potential. Silencing AQP3 or AQP5 in PDAC spheroids results in decreased diameter, area, and overall growth, underscoring their key ...

Dose‐dependent hepatotoxicity of hydrogen peroxide in HepG2 cells and its modulation by CYP450 induction

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
NMR metabolomics revealed concentration‐dependent metabolic perturbations in HepG2 cells exposed to H2O2. Rifampicin pretreatment enhanced metabolic competence, attenuated toxin‐induced alterations and produced metabolite profiles more consistent with human liver physiology, supporting the use of CYP450‐induced HepG2 models for improved in vitro ...

Feasibility and Tolerability of Performing Portable MRI for Neurological Disorders in an Outpatient Neurology Clinic: A Prospective Cohort

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Accessing brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can be challenging, especially for underserved patients, which may lead to disparities in neurological diagnosis. Method This mixed‐methods study enrolled adults with one of four neurological disorders: mild cognitive impairment or dementia of the Alzheimer type, multiple sclerosis ...
