PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Regression Model to Predict the Higher Heating Value of Poultry Waste from Proximate Analysis

open access: yesResources, 2018
Improper land application of excess poultry waste (PW) causes environmental issues and other problems. Meanwhile there is an increasing trend of using PW as an alternative energy resource.

Adenosine‐to‐inosine editing of miR‐200b‐3p is associated with the progression of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A‐to‐I editing of miRNAs, particularly miR‐200b‐3p, contributes to HGSOC progression by enhancing cancer cell proliferation, migration and 3D growth. The edited form is linked to poorer patient survival and the identification of novel molecular targets.

Municipal solid waste higher heating value prediction from ultimate analysis using multiple regression and genetic programming techniques

open access: yesWaste Management Research, 2018
Municipal solid waste (MSW) management presents an important challenge for all countries. In order to exploit them as a source of energy, a knowledge of their calorific value is essential.

Catalytic combustion of actual low and medium heating value gases [PDF]

open access: yes
Catalytic combustion of both low and medium heating value gases using actual coal derived gases obtained from operating gasifiers was demonstrated. A fixed bed gasifier with a complete product gas cleanup system was operated in an air blown mode to ...

Electron Temperature of Ultracold Plasmas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We study the evolution of ultracold plasmas by measuring the electron temperature. Shortly after plasma formation, competition between heating and cooling mechanisms drives the electron temperature to a value within a narrow range regardless of the ...

Predictors of response and rational combinations for the novel MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665 in acute myeloid leukemia

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study characterizes the responses of primary acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patient samples to the MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665. The results revealed that monocytic differentiation is associated with MIK665 sensitivity. Conversely, elevated ABCB1 expression is a potential biomarker of resistance to the treatment, which can be overcome by the combination ...

HEATING VALUE ENHANCEMENT BY BIOGAS PURIFICATION USING NATURAL ZEOLITE AND RICE STRAW-BASED BIOCHAR

open access: yesInternational Journal of GEOMATE, 2019
Biogas has many incentives to replace firewood and crop straw for cooking in rural area. However, to access sustained adoption of clean, carbon neutral and eco-friendly household fuels, raw biogas needs to be purified before used.

The influence of additional hemicellulose on Japanese cedar based pre-carbonized solid biofuel properties

open access: yesMechanical Engineering Journal, 2019
The global carbon dioxide emissions issue is the main hindrance of the Paris agreement goals. Biomass has been effectively utilized as a renewable energy in the household heating and the electricity generating sector.

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.
