Decoding the pancreatic cancer microenvironment: The multifaceted regulation of microRNAs

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 7, July 2025.
miRNAs play multiple roles in the tumour microenvironment of pancreatic cancer, including angiogenesis, interactions with cancer‐associated fibroblasts, the immune microenvironment, exosome communication, the neural microenvironment and metabolic reprogramming.

Hybridization and Asymmetrical Introgression Between the Vulnerable Gray‐Headed Chickadee and a More Abundant Congener, the Boreal Chickadee: Implications for Conservation

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 7, July 2025.
We assess genetic evidence of hybridization between gray‐headed chickadees and boreal chickadees using mitochondrial DNA and nuclear DNA sequencing of individuals from historical and contemporary time periods. We detected two early‐generation hybrids among the historical boreal chickadee samples and none within the contemporary boreal chickadee samples

Enhancing performance of detection dog field surveys through experimental transects

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, Volume 89, Issue 5, July 2025.
We evaluated performance parameters for a scat detection dog through assessment transects and compared these results with field survey data from the same dog‐team over a 4‐year period. From this, we derived valuable insights into the suitability of assessment transects for dog evaluation and how they can inform field performance.

Macrophage Signaling Pathways in Health and Disease: From Bench to Bedside Applications

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 6, Issue 7, July 2025.
Macrophage functions in phagocytosis, tissue repair, immune regulation, and neuronal network protection. And graphic abract image in the attachment. ABSTRACT Macrophages exhibit remarkable functional plasticity by dynamically polarizing into proinflammatory or antiinflammatory subsets in response to microenvironmental cues. This duality underpins their

Fish species lifespan prediction from promoter cytosine‐phosphate‐guanine density

open access: yesMolecular Ecology Resources, Volume 25, Issue 5, July 2025.
Abstract Lifespan is a key attribute of a species' life cycle and varies extensively among major lineages of animals. In fish, lifespan varies by several orders of magnitude, with reported values ranging from less than 1 year to approximately 400 years.
