The Hedgehog Hold on Homeostasis [PDF]

open access: yesCell Stem Cell, 2015
The adult lung is largely quiescent, with airway epithelia turning over slowly. Peng et al. (2015) describe a key role for the Hedgehog pathway in actively maintaining this quiescence, a surprising turn of events given the pathway's established mitogenic role, and they show that Hedgehog pathway attenuation is required for proliferative regeneration.

Sonic Hedgehog in SCLC

open access: yesAging, 2015
The Hedgehog (Hh) signal transduction pathway has been discovered as a central regulator of embryonic development, tissue maintenance and repair [1]. Moreover, several recent evidences have highlighted its key function in tumorigenesis [2]. In some familial cancers, such as basal cell carcinoma and medulloblastoma, Hh pathway activation represents the ...

Conformal capacity of hedgehogs

open access: yesConformal Geometry and Dynamics of the American Mathematical Society, 2023
We discuss problems concerning the conformal condenser capacity of “hedgehogs”, which are compact sets E E in the unit disk D = { z : | z | > 1 } \mathbb {D}=\{z:\,|z|>1\} consisting of

Hedgehogs are not colour blind [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Combinatorics, 2017
We exhibit a family of $3$-uniform hypergraphs with the property that their $2$-colour Ramsey numbers grow polynomially in the number of vertices, while their $4$-colour Ramsey numbers grow exponentially. This is the first example of a class of hypergraphs whose Ramsey numbers show a strong dependence on the number of colours.

The role of Hedgehog acyltransferase in Sonic hedgehog signalling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Protein acyltransferases (PATs), a group of enzymes catalysing fatty acylation of a variety of proteins, play an important role in protein sorting and signalling in the cell. In the Hedgehog (Hh) signalling pathway the PAT Hedgehog acyltransferase (Hhat) is responsible for addition of a palmitic acid to the N-terminal cysteine of Hh proteins.

Trafficking, development and hedgehog

open access: yesMechanisms of Development, 2009
Embryogenesis is mediated by a relatively small number of developmental signaling pathways, and the morphogens, receptors and transcription factors integral to these cascades are considered the master regulators of development. However, superimposed on this is an additional layer of control by complex intracellular trafficking networks.

RESONANCES ON HEDGEHOG MANIFOLDS

open access: yesActa Polytechnica, 2013
We discuss resonances for a nonrelativistic and spinless quantum particle confined to a two- or three-dimensional Riemannian manifold to which a finite number of semiinfinite leads is attached. Resolvent and scattering resonances are shown to coincide in this situation.

Transducing the Hedgehog Signal [PDF]

open access: yesCell, 2000
Regardless of the status of Smo/Ptc associations, we now have to consider which, if any, of the newly found responses of Smo to Hh actually determine Smo signaling activity. As there really are no definitive data to guide us here, I will take the opportunity to discuss some possibilities.
